Game 63 Thread: June 10 vs. Blue Jays, 1.10p

Dodgers start Jason Schmidt, RHP (1-2, 4.76) vs. Roy Halladay, RHP (5-2, 4.63).

Dodgers: 35-27 (3rd place NL West, 1.5 GB, L1)
Blue Jays: 29-32 (4th place AL East, 11.0 GB, W1)

From Dodgers.com, the scouting report on the starters:

Dodgers: A new and improved Jason Schmidt took the mound against the Padres. After seven weeks on the disabled list to heal a sore shouhttp://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=36360371&postID=6315363886805304938lder, Schmidt threw fastballs that topped out at 92 mph, five mph faster than any he had thrown in three starts before heading to the disabled list with bursitis. Schmidt allowed only an infield single in six scoreless innings.

Blue Jays: Halladay struggled mightily in his second start off the disabled list on Tuesday, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on 12 hits in just 3 1/3 innings against the Devil Rays. A dramatic comeback by Toronto allowed the right-hander to escape with a no-decision. Halladay cited continued control issues -- the same problems that plagued him before landing on the DL on May 11 after am emergency appendectomy. In his last four starts, the former Cy Young winner has gone 1-2 with a 10.02 ERA, allowing 23 earned runs on 41 hits over 20 2/3 innings.

COMMENTS:

Dropping Pierre all the way to the eight slot didn't stop the Dodgers from leaving RISP in the sixth, seventh, and eighth last night--and couldn't score ONE RUN in those or any other chances. The incredible pitching performances will get screwed if Grady can't figure out how to construct a lineup that manufactures runs. We know we can't play big ball, and lately we can't play small ball either. FREE. JAMES. LONEY.

Loney has been freed. Sax, on the other hand, continues his mourning over the Dodgers' loathsome lack of offense.

I'm going on a little vacation, people, so my posting will be a bit spotty for the next week. You're in good hands with the rest of the Sons. But by the time I get back, I want to see us back in first place and averaging 6 runs per game.

Get to work, James!!!

Loney pays dividends in his first at-bat. My man.

Maybe Schmidt isn't back after all. 3-2 Jays in the 2nd on an RBI single by Halladay.
