Free James Loney? Not so fast. . .

From John Perrotto's "Every Given Sunday" column (subscription required) posted today on BP:
If Texas decides to trade first baseman Mark Teixeira at the July 31 non-waiver deadline (a more likely proposition as the Rangers fall further out of the American League West race), among the teams who figure to make an attempt to land him are the Angels, the Dodgers, the Red Sox, the Yankees, the Giants, and possibly the Tigers.
This rumor has been bouncing around for a while, but landing Teixeira might make us Sons willing to forgive Trader Neddie for dumping Loney's body to waste in Area 51 like a bad episode of CSI or the X-Files.

Really? This is a good thing? Aren't they trying to dump Teixeira because he already peaked and now he's useless? Or maybe I'm thinking of Blalock. Yeah, that's probably it.

ps, Colletti will wind up trading for Blalock.
