From "Notes and Quotes" from FOXSports.com's Dodgers page:
QUOTE TO NOTE: "There are certain things on the field that you hate doing, and making an error is one of them. And striking out. I feel like a pitcher beat me if I strike out. If I hit the ball on the ground, I gave myself an opportunity." ?- CF Juan Pierre.
(Appropriately, that question mark is FOXSports' typo.)
I'm sure I'm reading too much into this quote—hey, it's practically a tradition here—but since you don't strike out or walk much, Juan, and since your BABIP has already regressed to the mean, that can only signify when you hit the ball on the ground, you're beating out the throw fewer times every year.
And with Rafael Furcal virtually guaranteeing a slow April, we won't even be able to count on "productive outs."
Last year the Dodgers went 12-13 in April. Expect more of the same this year.
