Post-Game 146 Thread: Just Another Walk-Off Victory

DODGERS 3, GIANTS 2 (10)

San Francisco scored first, with a Hunter Pence HR off Zack Greinke (6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 Ks) to lead off the second. The Dodgers countered in the bottom of the inning off a Mark Ellis force out, scoring Juan Uribe.

The Dodgers took the lead in the seventh off a Yasiel Puig double, scoring PR Dee Gordon. Unfortunately, the Giants scored in the top of the ninth off of Kenley Jansen, who struggled in the ninth (1.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 Ks). Juan Uribe kept it close in the eighth with a sweet inning-ending 5-3 double play.

But leave it to Adrian Gonzalez, the steadying force for us all year long. Carl Crawford led off with a single to right, Nick Punto sacrificed him over to second, and then Bruce Bochy opted Jeremy Affeldt to pitch to Gonzalez with one out...and paid the price. A-Gon singled to center, scoring Crawford for the game-winning run. That's the Dodgers' eighth walk-off victory of the season.

One concerning point was Hanley Ramirez, who looked gimpy jogging to first base in the fifth inning, and was removed after the sixth for Punto. Ramirez might have injured that hamstring that bothered him earlier this year, according to reports. We'll see.

Until then: Giants lose. Magic number drops further to 5, with 16 to play. As SoSG Dusty Baker said earlier: just what I needed. Indeed.

Donnie is very guarded about Hanley in the post-game interviews. "Hanley is saying he feels fine, but as the game goes, it keeps popping back. He keeps saying he can play, but at that point, I just couldn't do it. I'm not going to take any chances."

Yeah not sure what to make of HanRam. This is as far as I know the first we're hearing of an ongoing minor to mid-level issue with his hammy.

Greinke is one mellow guy on the post-game interviews. It's almost like he's smoking pot all the time.

He didn't bite on the question, "would clinching against the Giants this weekend mean more to you?" Greinke was non-plussed.

Greinke was fuckin chill. I felt like I needed about 12 bong hits just to know what he was trying to say.

Plus, he has a tiny head.

This was so great to wake up to. I wish they could win once while I was watching, though.

And I love AG's reaction. I wonder if he'll face a little chin music tonight

I like Hanley's toughness but we should definitely give him a few games off if his hammy is barking

It's a strained bark, too.
