Zack Greinke (15-3, 2.75 ERA) vs. Andre Cashner (10-8, 3.21 ERA)
Rubber game today, kids. Greinke goes for his 16th win and the Dodgers look to say goodbye to the Pod Rays on the season. Interesting note: The Dodgers are one win shy of joining the Giants (403) as the only teams with at least 400 wins over the Padres.
ps- Happy birthday to the Dodgefather, Tommy Lasorda!

Nice ceremony for Mariano Rivera at Yankme Stadium. Metallica live, playing Enter Sandman as Mariano walked onto the field. Bleacher Creatures had roll call for him and a number of returning teammates (O'Neill, Matsui, Berniw Williams, etc.). Cool stuff.
We are starting a 976 number. How fitting given out expensive payroll
Greinke is the only player starting whose last name ends in a vowel.
@Dusty, that's pretty freake
Kemp's is the only one with only one vowel.
Young is the oldest guy in the starting nine
@DBT: +1 for the irony
Oh jesus, if it's Sunday in San Diego, it must be hideous uniforms, jingoism, and perpetuation of the military industrial complex day.
On the sofa, Vinny!
Who smeared diahrrea all over Hanley's helmet?
Padres may have drawn over two million this year, Vin, but half of them were Dodger fans.
If there is a god or gods, they will not allow Burrito Express Pasadena commercials during games next season.
Shouldn't a guy with a name Logan Forsythe be a US ambassador to some former British colony, not a baseball player?
Pedro Moura @PedroMoura 14m
Lot of rumors that today is rookie dress-up day for the Dodgers. Brian Wilson may or may not be involved.
I noted Tony Jackson mentioning it, too, Orel. He seemed rookie-dress-up naive, though, acting like he didn't know how to get pics of such.
Pfffffftttt. We gots your rookie dress up pics here at SoSG.
Sounds like Tony is being old-school. You know those pictures will hit Twitter ASAP.
That's what I was thinking, Orel.
Puig's left hip is barking at him, no?
They're on a swarm-of-bees delay in Anaheim now.
Seriously? Blind Melon would be stoked
Nice play, Young!
Braves are winning 4-1 in the eighth
Giants beat the Yankees, that's good
Reds whomped the Pirates
Dodgers go 1-2-3 in the fourth
SAX, are you a Giants fan or dodger fan, I can't tell.
@LaW: I'm a Dodgers fan to the core. However as part of this, I want the Giants to win just enough games to stay out of the bottom 10 of the MLB--thereby making sure they don't get first-round-pick-draft relief if one of their free-agent picks decline.
It's all part of the master plan.
Whoops, the prior comment disappeared. For the record, someone had inquired as to why I was happy the Giants won today...
restored
Goddammit, both my fantasy football teams suck. And fuck Metallica and their stupid-ass movie. Bay Area twats.
I'm surly for no particular reason on this lovely Sunday...and the Dodgers aren't helping.
Expected to see a "Mission Accomplished" banner on that aircraft carrier they just showed between innings.
Sax loves the Giants sooooo much. That's why he started a Dodgers blog.
He also supports raising beer prices at Dodger Stadium.
throw strikes, Chris
cmon, kid
I rarely if ever bag on Vinny, but VIn, you just read that same note on Logan Forsythe during an earlier AB.
Was that - what do they call them things - a strike?
gift K there, now finish this
attaboy, kid!
Out of that jam!
the Bills' secondary is no good
we're gonna need some (more) help from the Jets to have a chance
If you could have the Bills throw it to Fred Jackson I'd appreciate it, FB!
Hurry up and finish this shit - can't stand to look at these scruffy camp wearing fools much longer.
Time for another moon shot, Puig.
@Cliffy there you go!
Donnie looking to wear out Withrow now?
wow you don't see that very often
I think Withrow's getting work in since he missed time to become a new daddy.
K! Second out. Let's get through this before League comes in.
Great job, Chris!
Chris playoff ready. #Nails
I know we don't want to overwork Greinke...but would one more inning have really killed him? Donnie, you truly are an AL manager.
I almost forgot about Dre.
that's a nice sign
Dre just wanted to swing a few times. He'll wait to hit the ball when he gets home
Those were some terrible ABs. These guys just want to get to the rookie hazing bit after the game.
Cmon, KJ!
Wow, looks like the Colts might beat the 'Niners.
One down in the ninth. Nice work, KJ.
Filthy. Two down.
Looks like Kenley's in postseason form too.
Mariano who???
We make rubber party!
Boom. Win number 90 is a 1-0 shutout. The way they've pitched this year, that seems very appropriate.
Attaboy, KJ!
BEAT FRISCO!
Great game with the glvoe and the bat, Young!
Rubber Picnic
@Saxy: (2:03)
Nice!
Niners lose. Dodgers win. Love it.
PGT goes up tomorrow.
So sleepy.
