Edinson Volquez (9-10, 5.97) vs. Jorge De La Rosa (15-6, 3.33).
There are four players tied for first in the NL with 15 wins, and De La Rosa is one of them (along with the Pirates' Francisco Liriano, the Cardinals' Adam Wainwright, and the Nationals' Jordan Zimmerman; the Dodgers' duo of Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke are tied for fifth with 14). Plus, the Rockies are salty and looking to salvage a win at home in their offensive-powered ballpark.
Sounds like the perfect setup for the debut of Edinson Volquez (as a Dodgers starter, that is)!
The career stats don't speak favorably for Volquez, either. His career win percentage in Sept/Oct is only .300 (6-14), by far his worst month. Volquez has a 1-4 record at Coors Field with an ERA of 8.39, by far his worst ballpark in the NL West. And, like many of the rest of us, Volquez suffers from a fear of the Rockies' mascot Dinger (or so it is alleged), ever since that unfortunate baby-eating incident on the Rockies' field.
All the more reason why, in today's game, I expect Edinson to get lit up. (Yes, I know that's a bad pun, but I filament to do just that.)

Good luck out there, Edinson!
GE...what a shock Edinson should expect.
Neeebs charges forward with the pun

SD takes the lead on SF, 1-0 (B1)
Arizona won in 10 innings today, 4-3.
Magic number stays at 12.
Where's the Greinke post? Don't be last with the good news!
This may be new to you Edinson, but
Gotta keep pitching
Does Volquez drive a Volt?
1 up for the good guys.
I know I said this last night, but Volquez does not impress me. This is his 7th start THIS SEASON against Rox and he is 0-4.
Volquez pitching as expected. Rox up 3-1 with no outs in second.
Sandoval: 3 jacks in San D
Guess ill be going to bed early.
Do you think he make the trip to Cincinnati?
cmon man, you are pitching for your life here!
Of The Rose sure throws a lot of strikes
we can't lay off that low sweeping slider
Ed sure throws a lot of meatballs
he still gets it up to 93mph
So what's the deal with starting Volquez? Are they trying to give the rotation an extra day? Is Capuano on the bubble? Are they getting him ready for middle relief?
Volqswagon through 4 with 75 pitches
I was trying to figure that out too, @Porter. You would think if they were working on his mechanics or confidence, they would rather have Volq throw anywhere but Colorado. An starting in his old stadium would be better too
Sure, let's put on League cuz that will make things better
good eye, Juan
Cmon, Brandon, figure it out
UNACCEPTABLE
and he somehow gets out of it
Don is throwing this away. You can tell
Volquez: four innings, four runs. Again, I don't know what this tells us, given it's in Coors Field. It certainly didn't look good, though.
League still doesn't look good.
Next up to pitch: Preston Mattingly
fuck the excuse me swing
4-2 bad guys
great inning, JP
T7, Dodgers on first and second, 0 out, down 4-2. Mattingly puts in A-Gon.
Take your time out there, Outman
A-Gon Ks, pretty badly

Harry Jairston with a force at second, Two out.
