Penny Lands in Japan

From MLBTR:

Pitcher Brad Penny has signed with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball, according to the team's website (Japanese link). Penny's deal is for one-year, $3MM with performance bonuses, according to a report from the Yomiuri Shimbun passed along by Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker.

ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick recently reported that Penny was weighing an opportunity with the Hawks. The 33-year-old posted a 5.30 ERA with 3.7 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 31 starst for the Tigers last season.

"Weighing an opportunity," get it?

Big wherever he goes.

Whoa....look at the two most recent pictures posted here. How many fat bastard pitchers somewhat resembling each other can be featured in 72 hours?

When I fist saw the tweet, all I noticed was "softbank," thought it said "softball," (not wearing my reading glasses), and laughed my ass off.

Still think he'd be a decent addition to our softball team. Guy covers a lot of ground on the infield.

Get it? Covers a lot of ground.

See, because he's so fat, he covers. . .oh fuck it.
