MVP! MVP! MVP! He's a five-tool player: hits, runs, fields, drinks beer, recruits ringers (see below). He patrolled left field — Johnny B's glove is where right-handed fly balls go to die. And his bat spawns hits like Michelle Duggar pumps out kids. When we do this again, the team starts with him.
Can you say ringer? We started Shay at first base, but, uh, not enough balls were being thrown her way. So we switched her to the hot corner, where she fearlessly smacked down line drives hit her way. Oh yeah, she also has a mean bat and was our most knowledgeable base coach. Go Shay!
Another ringer! Stacy brought it all to the team: she covered a ton of territory in right-center field, she got it done with the bat, and she had speed on the basepaths. And did I mention she was a ray of sunshine in our dugout? Great job, Stacy!

My life is complete. Thanks for the compliments, Orel, but I was hopped up on coffee, Monsters, Sudafed (the real kind), chemotherapy, and beer (no pizza tho'), so the drug test may render all efforts for naught.
Yes, that's right: we may be forfeiting those games, which would make the games 7-0 losses, which would really improve our standing! You're welcome.
New avatar, yeah baby.
I think Shay's shins wish that she moved back to third base.
Props to Mrs. Orel for the great photos.
Another fine set of cards. I want to collect 'em all and trade 'em with my friends!
Wait, there was sunshine in the dugout? If I would have been there, I would not have allowed it.
Dope cards. It looks like JB is holding up an SoSG sign.
Can the Dodgers sign Shay and then release Loney and Urine?
^first base... Doh!
Johnny B was our Bison. He was in Beast Mode all day!!!
Shay & Stacey made us look like a legit softball team out there. It was an honor and pleasure, ladies.
My team shirt is washed and ready to go drinking this weekend!
Only 51 weeks to get ready for next year's games, er, drinking.
I've got my opening day tickets and I'm seriously eyeing Padre Opening Day
Rumor has it that LFP is going to do a mid-season tournament this year.
Yeah! Looks like LFP will do another tournament...
Quick question--I guess I'm an idiot but I'm unclear which team was a "pre-formed" team. Was it Dodger Diaries? LFP.com dude confirmed there was one such team.
It was Dodgers Diaries.
Funny that they're the team who scored the least against us, but one of us mentioned, they were taking it easy on us.
Nomo-san: I know I said that a few times. DD was very professional, there was no doubt.
I know all this stuff goes out over the InterWeb, but if you find the Dodger Diaries website, you'll see the DD guy mentioning all of the players in a summary as if they were all regular DD people. Covering the tracks, so to speak. All the blogs can't be as awesome as SOSG, I suppose.
I don't like people who can't play by the rules. I gave them a chance and they blew it. Thankfully the LFP forum 2 team stopped them. I was debating what to do if they won. I'm glad it never came to that.
Yes there will be another sometime this year. I'm waiting to hear back from the park as to what dates are still available. I'll let you guys know.
It was kinda obvious that they were a bit "cohesive" at 8:00 a.m. While they were running in unity on the outfield, we were finding a scrap of paper and asking everyone where they wanted to play.
Good times, good times.
Ryan and I were there about 7:30ish and watching DD warm up. They were running the outfield, running sprints, doing that scissor legged the pros do, and playing catch. I think they were up 5-0 at that point.
We decide to warm up but have no gear, so we walk over to their dugout and introduce ourselves, make small talk, whatever. Then, I go, so hey can we borrow a softball to warm up? I think they were up 10-0 after that. So we got our warm ups in, and little good did that do.
@Mike
Thanks again for making this happen.
And by extension, making this thread happen. Cracking me up. I can just imagine the "Yankees" rolling in and practicing in unison and having full unit and such, and the SOSGers are rolling out of Stubbs' van after doing some wake and bake, trying to practice toss with some old waxed paper cups crushed together into a makeshift ball.
Re, Mid-Summer Classic:
IN!
Johnny B's skillz on the field are no match for his razor-sharp wit. Ask Jon Weissman.
Nice work by the Orels on these cards. Very impressive.
Love the idea of a mid-season tourney! A warmer day is just what the baseball gods ordered, though it did end up being pretty nice.
And yeah, Dusty Baker's Toothpick, Nomo and myself were the only ones that had arrived while the entire Dodger Diaries team was running wind sprints and doing stretches in the outfield. DBT and I looked at each other and asked, "Should we maybe play some catch or practice or something?"
Fuck practice.
Also suggest a later start time.
Ha! DB has the right idea. No practice, and night games under the lights.
Yeah, I don't think we need team practices. I like our Bad News Bearishness.
I do however, want to brush up on my individual skills. The stern talking-to I got about my throwing style from the ump in our first game made me rethink all my life choices.
That's some heavy ump shit, Nomo. I never imagined this would cause you to question your own sexuality and need deep counseling and therapy.
I suggest eating a Guatemalan insanity pepper and going on a spirit journey.
Less practice. More booze.
Practice? Practice your talking about practice.
An article from the Dodger Diaries guy about putting together a team of ringers to play at... Big League Dreams...

By the way I pump out hits like *I* pump out kids. I'm having another one (#4)--in 13 weeks. Need more beer!
Nice find Johnny.
