In a surprisingly close battle, Flo from Progressive Insurance beat Deltalina from Delta Airlines. But let's keep it real and take a second look at them, this time out of costume.
First, Flo:
Plus bootleg footage of her:
With some alt footage of her:
So now, here's my question (you have to pick one):
49 comments:
I'm going third party and voting for the Mini Babybel Cheese girl.
(Sorry. I can't find a better pic or video that my work doesn't block.)
Flo all the way, and bonus points for being in the Groundlings in real life.
I posit that Flo (the character, not the actress) is appealing because of the enthusiasm level, kinda like the MBRCS dancing girl we've discussed previously.
I gotta second Mr. C on this one. Flo is funny in a kinda annoying, borderline obnoxious way. Deltina has that Middle Tennessee thing going that is so cookie cutter and sickeningly "sweet."
But then again, I like the volatility of the latinas. What do I know?
@Neeebs
That's one of the reasons we get along. I need the emotional counterbalance to my left-brain tendencies, too.
Sadly, this tendency has thus far only resulted in a string of suspiciously unhinged ex-girlfriends, but it's great while it lasts.
So this is what goes on here in the offseason...
(backs slowly towards the door)
I continue to have a hard time separating how much I loathe the Progressive Insurance ad campaign from what I may or may not think about its chief adstress.
And in an admittedly esoteric critique of the aforementioned ad, it really sets me off that Flo's face is so washed out in the commercials in comparison to the bright lipstick she wears. It's a horrible look, and I know nothing about fashion.
Deltalina again. I'd get tired just being around Flo.
I fly American all the time. I sure wish they had some hottiez doing the pre-takeoff video. I might actually pay attention for once. Naw, that's not true - it would get in the way of my Bloody Mary ordering and playing of the game, "ID the Sky Marshal."
@nic j
Aww, come on, This is nothing, just wait 'til mid-January to see how deranged we can get.
I'm getting a little bored myself.
@Neeebs "I like the volatility of the latinas. What do I know?"
You are a man of great taste!
@Nic j i have marginal Dodgers baseball related news, just for you: Belisario debuts tomorrow on venezuelan winter baseball, i could tweet (twit?) for you, but i'll be busy celebrating my birthday.
Now that I can see the videos, I have to back Flo for her Mayfair shoutout. That was the supermarket of my youth.
@Nic: LMAO
@MC: I have some referrals.
@Karina: Happy birthday in advance. FYI, I'm contemplating a Maracaibo trip in 2010. I'll keep you posted.
Mr. C- Are you back from your sojourn abroad?
Happy birthday, Karina!
Oh, and still too much collagen on Deltalina.
There is parity in the Battle of the Pitchwomen.
Flo bought her spokesmodel title just like the Yankees did.
@db
I'm like MacArthur to the Philippines.
My timing was excellent, I think. I was spared watching the WS and subsequent Jetergasm.
If I could stop waking up at 3 in the morning already, that would be great, though.
Official happy b-day to Karina.
Feliz cumpleanos, Karina!
For your birthday, we got Bison and O Dog a pair of Gold Gloves.
I can only imagine the scene in Maracaibo as Karina celebrates another lap of the Earth.
Have a great time.
Now, let's focus on what's really important; trade rumors. We need more, STAT. That or Jamie needs to get blind-ass drunk in Hollywood and give lap dances to several local city councilmen (and women).
There was a rumor in the Register about the O'Malley family interested in rescuing Dodger fans from the McCourts.
I read about the blackouts in Venezuela and Brazil. Little did I know that it had more to do with Karina's celebration than it did with the electrical grids there.
In other news; the Saint Anthony Saints advanced to the second round of the CIF div 4A volleyball playoffs with a convincing win over Villanova Prep of Ojai. Venezuela rejoices in seeing their patron saint victorious.
The Saints take on number one ranked Upland Christian on Thursday. Site TBA.
MLB Daily Dish says Edwin Jackson is on the market.
Just sayin'.
So we got Chuck Tiffany back already. If we re-acquire Edwin, will it be like Danys Baez and Lance Carter never existed?
(Pleaseohpleaseohpleaseoh...)
I'm sticking with Deltalina for sure. She loves to fly and it shows.
Flo's commercials give me air sickness.
I'm with Mr. C. Jackson's 2nd half was not so spectacular, so he can be had on the cheap. Then sign Lackey and watch as the Giants resign B.Mo and get Jason Bay.
If the Giants do what I've proposed, I predict another strong third place finish for the Bay Area Boneheads.
Flo reminds me of the charming-yet-neurotic girl who's a friend-of-a-friend you were warned about at an otherwise fairly dull party. By 9:30, you're both totally drunk, and by 10:05, you're making out in her car. After forgetting her name and failing to get her number because you were passed out from too many Iron City beers, you see her a few weeks later with some guy 20 years older than her.
So, yeah, I voted for Flo. Why'd you ask?
Rob walks a knife edge between allegory and anecdote.
It was a pastiche...
By the way, when I was in college, Iron City was the lowest of the low crap you could find, the beer equivalent of Thunderbird. Looks like they've gone upscale since then, though they may just be the reincarnation of Rolling Rock.
Rob,
Sounds like the Japanese Car Theorem.
If you sell someone a good, cheap, little car when they're 20, they'll buy a good medium-sized car at 30 and a good, expensive, luxury car from you at 50.
At the time of this comment, the # votes per option, in order presented, are 7, 7, 33, 33.
This is frighteningly close.
It also tells me that the out-of-costume photos changed the minds of 17.5% of you.
and Happy Birthday Karina!
EK, I think you created the proverbial monster here.
Hail to the post-season blues!
@rbnlaw 8:55
I put in a good word for you guys with Tony on my way through Padova. Hope it helps.
Rob, now I'd like to know: who does Deltalina remind you of?
@Mr. C
Thanks, my daughter's Saints can always use the help from a real. live one. I guess he's dead, but alive somehow?
Not really sure how this saint thing works.
Rob, that just hits waaaaay too close to home. Nicely said.
@rbnlaw
Not really sure how it works, either, as I was just catholic by proxy for that day only.
I did make a point of going because of the several adherents of varying degrees here.
@Mr. C:
You're in Italy? Lucky!
@rbnlaw
I've been back for about 48 hours, and I'm already poluting the internet with my inane drivel.
Iwas in the UK for a weekend, then on to the continent.
MrC-
You check any Premiership matches? The N'Gog dive is now legend...made my Drogba look like a good sport.
@dusty
My timing was off for live football. I always seemed to be a day late or a day early for a match.
They had literally just cleared the hooligans out from a Fiorentina-Napoli match as I rolled into town.
MrC-
Which of those cities had you just rolled into?
Oh how I'd love to roll through the cities of Italy and back to the UK.
Good for you, Mr. C.
@dusty
That match was it Florence, but I'm pretty sure it was the Neapolitans that were getting chippy.
@rbn
Thanks! I'd spent quite a lot of time over there in HS and College, but I hadn't been back for going on 10 years.
