Surprise, surprise, Manny re-upped for his 2nd year at $20m. But so much has happened since last March. Including 19 HR's, 63 RBI's, 0.290/0.418/0.531, and a 50-game suspension.
So here's my question:
Random rantings and ravings about the Los Angeles Dodgers, written by a small consortium of rabid Dodger fans. With occasional comments on baseball, entertainment, pop culture, and life in general.

He'll bounce back next season.
His hand will (hopefully) be healed. That, and coupled with a contract year . . . I expect him to do well.
I think that with the late start in Spring Training, coupled with the suspension and the porcelain treatment during rehab, really took its toll on Manny. A full stint in Glendale without any breaks during the regular season should fix him right up.
I think it's safe to say Manny's worth what he's paid...
but so many players signed last offseason were worth much more than what they were paid last offseason. See Bobby Abreu, Randy Wolf, Orlando Hudson to name a few. What if we had signed Adam Dunn? He signed for $25 million less than Manny, and was more productive, and not using drugs.
I think it's also safe to say the Giants would have been contenders if they signed him. He could have joined Lincecum and Zito to smoke weed and formed a 1-2 punch with the Kung Fu Panda, which would have been a 1-2 punch with their 1-2 punch of Lincecum and Cain, and the folks at McCovey's Chronicles would punch of everyone that mentioned a 1-2 punch.
His triple slash stats were pretty good, despite the hand injury. If it's healed and he's not, you know, suspended for the season, he should have a good season. Maybe not $20MM good, but not a bust.
Simers firsdt wrote about this, but it is now being reported widely and not denied, so I'll take it with some seriousness. And a lot of relief: Torre is in contract extension talks. Yes, I put his bobble in the doghouse, and yes, I find quibble with his decisions every now and again, but I really wouldn't want anyone else managing the team now or in the next few years. His positives FAR outweigh his negatives in my opinion. And EVERY manager has negatives.

Phillies decline option on only easy out.
i highly doubt we will be getting any big free agents for a while. So i am going to enjoy Manny while we still have him.
Plus, no matter what any Dodgertalk caller tells you, he is still better than Juan Pierre.
Nic, are you suggesting that DodgerTalk callers are morons? Why, I thought that Schmidt-for-Halladay trade idea was brilliant!
Exactly, Nic.
dont forget the "Just trade for Cain" caller.
Adam Morrison for Lebron James! It's a no-brainer!
Ethier, DeJesus, Gordon, and Withrow for Matt Garza!
To be perfectly Jamie, I wouldn't mind the Dodgers sign on a guy as backup for Martin: Paul Lo Duca. I heard somewhere that he's going to try to make a comeback. I'd like to see the Dodgers sign him to a minor-league deal, and see what he can do in Glendale.
It was in the Daily News:

i just saw him doing commentary at the breeders cup.
I hate to say it, but yes, Manny in left is a better option than JP.
As I said before, I would like to see what Option B is. Holliday? Figgins?
I'm willing to give ManRam the benefit of a complete spring and 50 more games to prove himself. I also fear another suspension for doing something stupid. I could see Manny with a babysitter like Jack Haley to Dennis Rodman.
