Chad Billingsley and Russell Martin aren't the only ones yearning for the glory days of 2008. Big League Stew brings us this surprisingly un-gritty comment from the Phillies' Cole Hamels after his Halloween-night shellacking:
"I can't wait for it to end," Hamels said, referring to his wildly inconsistent 2009 season. "It's been mentally draining ... It's one of those things, a year in, you just can't wait for a fresh start."
Is Cole Hamels the anti-MSB? Already sportswriters like Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com are jumping on Hamels, and I can't imagine this white flag-waving quote will go over well in boo-collar Philly. It's time to find out what the shelf life is on the goodwill from Hamels' 2008 World Series MVP award.

Access has the word "Ace" in it.
It also has the word "Ass"
In Cole's short career, he's managed to be both.
I don't think access has the word ace in it.
What's the shelf life of goodwill for Hamels?
About a blink of an eye longer than the shelf life for Brad Lidge...
"C'mon Cole. You've got to work the corners."
They replayed that New Era commercial last night. . .and I laughed.
rb, that was funny and sad. it killed me to see Dodger Stadium packed and cheering like that. I really miss it.
So true, FB, so true.
What's dreamboat doing in the second picture? is he a gynecologist as well?
Maybe all those words shooting out of his ass on the SI cover ruined his pitching ability.
Martin wasn't that good in 2008 either. Let's say pre-ASG 2008.
I have a hard time believing the hard-core Filly fans not giving him grief over those condo ads. I mean, that much white in one apartment? You can't eat a cheesesteak in there without running up a vicious dry cleaning bill.
@Rbnlaw - The best part of that commercial is that he's struggling.
Has anyone else noticed he has the voice of 13-year-old girl in that commercial?
I'd take him in a heartbeat.
Time for Jim Tracy on Cole Hamels:
Has he lost what made him great? I'm not sure; what made him great?
Would I like to have him on my team? Maybe, if he could regain the form that made him so effective.
Is he overexposed? Well, duh.
