NETHERLANDS 2, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 1 (F/11)
Wow. Who would have thought the Netherlands, whose roster boasts a whopping two MLB players (the DR roster had 23), would have sent the mighty Dominican Republic packing? Household name Yurendell DeCaster got the GWRBI with men at the corners, as the Dutch scored two in the bottom of the 11th inning to tie and then win the game. The Netherlands will join Puerto Rico in Miami, along with Pool C winners USA and Venezuela (who play again Wednesday at 3.30p).
The Netherlands dedicated tonight's victory to SoSG's own Eric Karros, a big fan of fries-with-mayonnaise.
