Juan Pierre Is All Smiles, Part 3

Dead man walking? The Dodgers' signing of Manny Ramirez has presumably knocked Juan Pierre out of a starting job, and photographic evidence indicates Pierre is not happy with the situation. (Or just a sourpuss.) Although the Dodgers have granted permission for Pierre's agent to pursue trade opportunities, Pierre's burdensome contract makes it unlikely Ned Colletti would eat salary simply to rid himself of outfield insurance.

Who knew $44 million could be such a bummer? If ever you needed an indication that money doesn't necessarily buy happiness, Juan Pierre is Exhibit A. But despite his glum exterior, Pierre has been generally professional about his diminished role, even displaying a sense of humor about his shortcomings as a player.

And Pierre will need a good attitude going into this season, because the Dodgers are stuck with him and he's stuck with the Dodgers. 2012 can't come soon enough!

"Juan couldn't even win at rock paper scissors when it was decided a wet newspaper beats nothing."
