USA WBC Update: Pool 2 / Game 5 Game Thread

What better way to spend St Patrick's Day than to amplify your inebriation revelry and watch the US take on Puerto Rico in Game 5, Pool 2 of the World Baseball Classic. Puerto Rico, as you recall, obliterated the US with a mercy-rule-triggering 11-1 game to open Pool 2 play.

Tonight's game is for all the marbles--winner advances to the semifinals at Dodger Stadium; loser goes home (or back to spring training, or worse). The US will also be without the services of Chipper Jones, Dustin Pedroia, and Matt Lindstrom in today's game, while Ryan Braun's availability will be a game-time decision. Ted Lilly takes the mound for the US.

Comment away and go USA!

I was looking into buying tickets for the dodger stadium games, but the UPPER DECK is going for 45 bucks a ticket!!!! That is too high for my blood.

BTW, USA better play better than the dodgers right now - the cubs are killing them 11-3 with Zambrano hitting a homer and a double. Ugh.

I can't wait to hear about the injuries suffered in the mosh-pit style celebratory player pile up.

Exciting game though. Broxton got the win!

I was going to criticize Broxton for letting PR score that fifth run, but the highlights show that Jeter clearly biffed the play up the middle to have that run score.
