Relief Corpse

Thanks to QuadSevens for doing a little homework:

Just in case anyone feels like pointing out weaknesses in our bullpen, here’s something to back it up. This info was pulled from baseball reference. It shows all the games lost by relief pitchers this year with a little extra info on each game. Feel free to share it with anyone who wants to cry into their beers during this offseason.

Great work! I wish Kuo pitched like his previous all star, I deserve a cool bobble head form.

The data proves it, Hawksworth sucks

If I ever have to get Sax a gift, I'm getting him a Blake Hawksworth jersey.

I'll take an Erin Hawksworth jersey.

You'll get Blake and you'll like it.

Don't the coaches keep these kinds of stats on their pitchers? At what point do you stop giving Sucksworth the ball with the game on the line.

Hat tip to Mr. C for giving me the idea of how to kill some time on a slow day at work. He also pointed out that there were probably more games we lost as a result of relievers allowing inherited runners to score. After seeing this list, I couldn't bring myself to look for those ugly numbers.

@DBT - When the bullpen becomes more than just Jansen and Guerra.

But how does this compare to the rest of the league? In the course of the season, each team will suffer losses when tied or ahead. The trick is to minimize these. 18 games doesn't sound too bad.

I thought i read it ranked 8th in MLB same as last year, Pitchers have been great since Honeycutt has the job but he gets flamed by the fans. It's hitting this team hasn't had for a decade or so...
