Finally, A Merciful End To The EugeniO Velez Dodger Era

The Dodgers finally pulled the plug on the terminally ill Eugenio Velez, outrighting him to triple-A Albuquerque (which I hope refers to Albuquerque, Vanuatu):

As for Velez, he was taken off the roster a week after setting Major League records for futility. Velez went 0-for-37 in 2011, and is 0-for-46 stretching over the past two seasons.

And Garland + Beard options declined. You had to know both were coming, but, I can still hope to see Beard back in 12 in a backup/sub role - if he'll take that. It'd be a shame to lose that guy entirely, he has future manager written all over him, in big pink crayon.

I wouldn't mind Garland back on the cheap, if he can stay healthy.

I wouldn't mind not having Uribe back.

I hope they didn't send Eugeni0 to Al Albuquerque. He doesn't need the distraction.
