SoSG FF: Week 4 Update / Week 5 Smack Thread

Let's check in with Mr. LA Sports Thing:

It's been a month since the 2011 NFL season began, and the SoSG season is in full swing as well. Out of eighteen teams, only two are undefeated. What excitement transpired last week? Here's a little taste of the action.

Prof. Dittmore 86 (3-1) - Mr. LA Sports Czar 57 (1-3): Ditty continues to rebound from his opening week loss, getting his third straight win, thanks to 16 points from Vincent Jackson and 15 points from Matthew Stafford. I fell apart, with BenJarvus Green-Ellis as my only man in double-figures with 13 points.

Josh S. 121 (4-0) - Meaniebreanie 38 (0-4): Josh gets a win that's easier than Neeebs' Mom and remains hot, while MB is…not. Seven of Josh's nine players reach double-digits, led by Wes Welker and the Jets' D with 21 points each. Nobody could get more than eight for MB, whose only solace is her team in some other league.

Spanky 80 (2-2) - Mr. Customer 74 (2-2): Spanky moves up to tie with Mr. C for third in the Rancho Ardiendo division as a result of a 32-point outburst from the Ravens' D. Andy Dalton's 18 points and Jason Witten's 15 were not enough for Mr. C.

Karina 108 (3-1) - Steve K 96 (1-3): Steve K had a strong showing, but Karina managed to finish on top in the battle of the Ks. Tavaris Jackson and Calvin Johnson both had 21 points for Karina, and Ray Rice added 18. 31 points from Cam Newton and 22 from Arian Foster went in vain for Steve K.

Loney Fan 94 (2-2) - Central Valley Fan 72 (0-4): CVF will have to keep looking for that first win of the season after LF brought the heat; Beanie Wells dropped 31 points and Matt Forte added 28 to the winning effort. CVF lost, despite 17 points from Philip Rivers and 16 from Dwayne Bowe. Neeebs' Mom

Fernie V 99 (3-1) - NicJ 93 (3-1): FV delivers Nic his first loss of the season. Michael Turner's 20 points and Tony Romo's 19 paved Fernie's way. 19 points from both Jimmy Graham LeGarrette Blount went for naught for Nic.

QuadSevens 79 (2-1-1) - rbnlaw 27 (2-2): Ouch! Q7's average showing was more than enough to dispatch rbn. Eli Manning and Steve Smith both had 18 points for Quad, while the Titans' D had 12 points for rbn.

Paul 123 (1-3) - Wicks 82 (0-3-1): It's easy as 1-2-3 for Paul, who gets his first win of the year, while Wicks is still on the outside looking in. 26 Pierre Garcon points gave Paul a firm footing, and Matt Ryan added 17. Josh Freeman's 23 points couldn't get the job done for Wicks.

Dusty Baker 107 (4-0) - Jason 59 (2-2): Dusty keeps on winning, thanks to a 45-point outburst from Aaron Rodgers, with Hakeem Nicks throwing in 22. Jason also had a solid game from his quarterback (29 points from Michael Vick), but none of his other men could reach double figures.

Week 5 match-up's in store: MLASC vs. MB, Spank vs. Ditty, Josh vs. Mr. C, Karina vs. CVF, FV vs. Steve K, Nic vs. LF, rbn vs. Wicks, Neeebs vs. Q7, and Paul vs. DB.

The second month of play is upon us. Who will be left in the dirt, and who will continue to ride high? And even if you can't play in the postseason, I've got a game brewing for everyone left in the consolation ladder. More on that later…

I'm, about to check the score of P.Ditty's and my game. All I know is there is a loaded gun at my side that is ready to rock.

Kyle Baker said...

Josh-

Free dry hump if you can re-send that link to the fantasy cast so I can watch the matchups on my iPhone while Mrs Dusty spends all our money on shoes here at The Grove.

(cries)

I really do need to pay more attention to this whole fantasy football thing. My WR just underwent surgery, and no one told me.

Dusty Baker, dutiful husband!

Vick is killing me! Loved that pick right there though! I really should have started Heyward-Bey.

Zack Greinke has a tiny head!

DUDE!

Holy jesus - that Braun ball is still in orbit...around Uranus.

Kyle Baker said...

FUCK THESE CARDS! Fuck anyone rooting for them. Assholes. Give up a HR so you need to hit the next guy? Jesus christ. Throw at someone when I say throw at them. I want Cards to get smashedSmashedSMASHED!

spank said...

Holy shit. I just realized I have to players on my starting roster who are hurt and not playing.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

@Dusty - There's another thread for you to smash the Cards.

Kyle Baker said...

I forgot that the Cards had a football team.

Kyle Baker said...

Wow...Magglio Ordonez out for rest of postseason (ankle). That and Delmon Young absence could seriously put a crimp in Tigers postseason plans.

spank said...

@ rb 11:38am

You are also playing with no quarterback. Just saying.

Kyle Baker said...

Fuck I keep forgetting about the bifurcation of fantasy football and today's baseball game thread. Sorry for the OT posts.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

You are not forgiven, Dusty.

Good day, sir.

Kyle Baker said...

Ah, the unforgiven.

Consider me scorned.

(punishes self)

MeanieBreanie said...

@Spank- hand me your gun. What are the odds that both my quarterbacks have a bye week? My scrub that had 9 points projected didn't even play (cries)

Not even Adrian Peterson can save me.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I'm actually having solid games from my RBs. Who'da thunk it?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Stupid prognosticators, told me Ivy League was a better start than Schauby.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

That Ridley-for-Jones trade did not pan out for either MB or Ditty.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

@rbn - When are you going to dump Carson Palmer?

Orel said...

Mind the bifurcation, people.

spank said...

TEBOW!

Kyle Baker said...

No more baseball for the day makes Dusty sad.

Kyle Baker said...

Bu there's football. That's good.

Kyle Baker said...

And there's beer. That's even better.

Kyle Baker said...

Cool, that Falcons dude is named Biermann.

Orel said...

He could play for the Brewers.

Orel said...

HA HA GET IT

Kyle Baker said...

Exactly. That's why I was digging on his name. Oh, I wouldn't save a $10 bill his way and yell "Hey, Biermann! Over here!" a lot if I knew him or anything.

But I'd be out of practice since in-seat beer sales don't exist at DS.

Hey, take it easy on me, Marla. I'm still sensitive about the lack of full HD in last night's baseball broadcast.

Orel said...

How are the undefeated Josh S. and Dusty Baker doing today?

Josh S. said...

Both leading, last I checked.

Kyle Baker said...

My lead is extremely precarious. Rodgers doing shit so far and ATL looking strong. I didn't have a good fantasy day.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

That "extremely precarious" lead is 21 points.

Orel said...

Beautiful pass by Rodgers!

Kyle Baker said...

@Marla

Not if you factor in Rodgers is the only guy I have left to play and my esteemed opponent has three in this game and one on Monday night.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Make that 22 points.

Kyle Baker said...

How do I find out if Donald Driver is playing?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Dusty's precarious lead is now at a miniscule 24 points.

Kyle Baker said...

I'm teetering on the edge, maaaaan! (looks down, feels dizzy)

Josh S. said...

I've got a wafer thin 33 point advantage.

Kyle Baker said...

Could I trouble you for a wafer thin mint, Josh?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Dusty's 32-point lead is thinner than Kate Moss.

Kyle Baker said...

This 33 point lead is less stable than Northern Waziristan.

Josh S. said...

Huh. James Jones finally did something. Hopefully I won't need his 20 points that I left on the bench.

Kyle Baker said...

43 points separate Paul and me. The Lions defense is going to make up that deficit within the first 8 minutes, no doubt.

Steve Dittmore said...

I suppose it was inevitable my team would lay an egg at some point. Good thing it is against Spanky as I still have a chance!

Steve Dittmore said...

Oh, yeah. That scoring rule where a player loses two points if he fumbles? That's dumb.

spank said...

If my kicker scores 10 points tomorrow,Ditty's done. Straight up.

spank said...

Ditty's already making excuses.

Steve Dittmore said...

Our projected totals, which include 10 points from your kicker, are the exact same Spank... In Stafford I trust!

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I need a Ditty win so I can pull even with Spank and Mr. C.

spank said...

Pull this.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Who says I haven't?

Steve Dittmore said...

I wonder if Spank is feeling the heat yet... That 35 point lead going into tonight is now 24 points, with a lot of time left.

Steve Dittmore said...

10 point lead now...

Kyle Baker said...

I'm 35 points ahead. Good-bye, cruel world! (severs carotid artery with broken off bottleneck of St. ides)

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Spank with the upset!
