LCS Game 2 ÜberThread™®: Oct. 10

Why am I thinking about March Madness all of a sudden?

  • ALCS Game 2: Tigers @ Rangers, 1p
    Max Scherzer (1-0, 1.23) vs. Derek Holland (1-0, 1.42).
  • NLCS Game 2: Cardinals @ Brewers, 5p
    Edwin Jackson (1-0, 3.00) vs. Shaun Marcum (0-1, 13.50).

The Rangers and Brewers have the momentum, and things just got worse for the Tigers: Magglio Ordonez is out for the rest of the postseason with a broken ankle. And Yuniesky Betancourt hit a home run for the Brewers, for Joe Posnanski's sake. Can Detroit and St. Louis get back to pole position? Prepare to qualify!

I'd feel a little bit better if Derek Fisher could go back to the War Room and stop retweeting every basketball player who has a Twitter account.

MR.F said...

It's his publicist! Or Kobe, who has hacked his twitter.

St. Louis can position my pole.

Kyle Baker said...

I love my man D. Fish, but he does need to STFU already.

Kyle Baker said...

So Delmon Young is in the lineup today despite the oblique. Strong move that Old Hoss Radbourn would surely approve of.

Kyle Baker said...

Who else has today off work?

More specifically, who else going down to their local to get they booze on and watch some daytime playoff baseball?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I think you mean, "their booze on." C'mon Dusty, you're better than this.

Nostradamus said...

That's a negatory.

I'm protesting by goldbricking.

@DB drink a Sams Octoberfest for me, man. I'm stuck in the salt mines...

Kyle Baker said...

No, I meant "they." I'm trying to be hip, man. It's all I've got.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

You're about as hip as Ed Asner, Dusty. Sorry.

Kyle Baker said...

It's hip to be square, MLASC.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

It's hip to be round.

Kyle Baker said...

I think my hip is broken.

Bring me some Oktoberfest and a Cherry Wheat!

Kyle Baker said...

DET on the ropes already. They best pick themselves up or could be in too big a hole to come back from. Come on, Motor City boys, let's have a contest.

Kyle Baker said...

That's not a dust stache. It's a douche stache.

DodgersKingsoftheGalaxy said...

Hope the Cards can make it a series...

Kyle Baker said...

Hope the Cards are in a bizarre bus accident where everyone gets season-ending groin injuries.

Kyle Baker said...

Ron Washington looks like he could use a few lines of blow there in the dugout.

Kyle Baker said...

Oh heal yeah. DET up 3-2 and douchestache is knocked out of the game.

OT: douchestache autocorrects to "dpi jests he" on iPad.

Checking in from a random Jack In The Box in the valley, grabbing lunch between school site visits. Forgot the game was so damn early.

Josh S. said...

Is Joe Buck calling the game, or is a day game on a Monday beneath him?

Kyle Baker said...

Snag me a sixes of fried mozzarella will ya, Josh? Don't forget the little packet of marinara sauce.

MR.F said...

How would y'all compare Jack in the Box to the other fast food joints, out of curiosity?

Kyle Baker said...

@Fanerman re Jack off In the Box

Less putrid than most of the others.

QuadSevens said...

I'm still partial to a double double from In N Out. Haven't had one in a while. I need to go there this week.

spank said...

Looks like plug nose got his 7th inning coke hit.

MR.F said...

In-N-Out is of course the best!

MR.F said...

3-3, be tee dubs.

spank said...

The jumbo jack beats all others basic burger. And that's the straight cheese, mate.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I'm starting to get into Five Guys.

spank said...

Benoit balls.

MR.F said...

Five Guys is also a good burger. In-N-Out has its own distinct taste, though. Five Guys and In-N-Out can co-exist!

DodgersKingsoftheGalaxy said...

They made the best truck even sexier.

Kyle Baker said...

Fuck that hippie co-exist shit! Fuck 5 Guys! All hype. Don't believe that hype, Marla!

And fuck the Gnats!

Kyle Baker said...

Ooooohhhhh...getting drunk. Yes we are.

Kyle Baker said...

I forgot the other game was on in my drunkennnnessss.

Kyle Baker said...

ps - 45

MR.F said...

Well, that's one way to end it.

MR.F said...

Where is everybody? No reactions?

DodgersKingsoftheGalaxy said...

I thought the Brewers pitchers were supposed to be good..

Josh S. said...

Re: MLASC: "I'm starting to get into Five Guys."

I bet you are.

(The hell with the rest of you for not jumping on that one.)

MR.F said...

That joke's already been done so many times! But then again, iono if there's been a Five Guys discussion here yet.

DodgersKingsoftheGalaxy said...

You guys were on the fangraphs chat too eh?

MR.F said...

Rickie Weeks home run. We got a ball game.

Josh S. said...

I love the Brewers, but the Sulley stuff is fucking stupid.

MR.F said...

Sulley?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I still prefer In-N-Out, but Five Guys is pretty good.

Josh S. said...

This is getting out of hand fast.

Also, the game's not going well.

MR.F said...

And it's back to a 5-run difference.

DodgersKingsoftheGalaxy said...

I lean toward the Rangers over the Cards.

Josh S. said...

@Mr. F 6:39

Fans have taken the Beast Mode thing a step further and tried to make Sulley from Monsters Inc. an unofficial mascot (since Prince's kids love the movie). Some even come to Miller Park in Sulley costumes. They make panda hats look dignified.
