Dodgers Blogger Night Recap #2.5: One More Thing

Whoops, I forgot one more thing on top of the 11 that I already mentioned:

12. Thankfully, the tides are turning against God Bless America and Don't Stop Believing. I spoke with one Dodgers employee who said that he/she had been trying to curtail both of these new traditions, both of which have run their course and are now neither novel nor necessary. For GBA, there is a movement starting to only do it on Sunday games and special holidays (which would make sense); for DSB, I think there is rising sentiment that it's time to move on (after all, there is little believing left to be had here in 2011). Personally, I'm hopeful that this employee gets the requisite endorsements to let these two interstitials fade away.

And take the wave with them.

That'd be nice.

Did you also lobby them to raise beer prices?

Stop the madness already!

I mean, not the beer madness, but the GBA/DSB madness.

They were doing the wave at Yankee Stadium, so it's actually not just LA.

They were doing the wave at Nationals Park last weekend as well. It seemed quite novel to them. But I'm not bagging on the crowd - it was robust and enthusiastic.

I love God Bless Amaerica during the 7th. When I go to other ball parks and they only sing TMOTTBG once and dont sing GBA, it makes me miss Dodger Stadium more.

Also, DSB, I love the songs. I was at the three game gnats series when they first introduced us to DSB guy and it tied in perfectly for me. When I ran the LA 5K at Dodger stadium this year, you better believe I had timed it so DSB would start playing as I rounded the last turn and came up the hill back into the ravine.

Next your gonna want to get rid of I love LA and replace it with what, Nobody walks in LA?

This is all apart of the character of the stadium, the feel, the fabric of our lives. Yes the Dodgers suck right now, but we don't need to nitpick at the percieved tiny imperfections like a hurt lover...

@CVF

I hear you on TMOTTBG 2X. I wonder what other Yard does it twice? Every place I've been to only does it once (not that I've been to a majority of them by any stretch).

Something also has to be done about the playing of I Love L.A. before the game. This silly practice started in 2010 and is CLEARLY bad luck.

Yeah, "I love LA" should be saved for after wins, and the "Don't Stop Believing"...yeah, that ran its course after the Giants won the World Series. I couldn't believe they brought it back this year, and they should DEFINITELY can it now. It's like we're making fun of ourselves, and there are already way too many jokes out there!
