Zack Greinke (0-0, 0.00) vs. Tyson Ross (0-0, 0.00)
Greinke takes the mound tonight, following in the footsteps of Clayton Kershaw yesterday. But tonight will also mark the Dodger debut of Yasmani Grandal, whose replacement of A.J. Ellis at catcher represents the biggest positional improvement in projected WAR, short of Jason Heyward's replacement of Allen Craig in RF for St. Louis. Grandal swings the Dodgers' WAR +4.1 (which is still distilled by projected Juan Uribe degradation at 3B to be a net loss of -4.1 in aggregate across all nine positions).
Greinke is 4-0 with a 1.84 ERA in his career against San Diego, going 3-0 with a 1.66 ERA the last two seasons, according to mlb.com. Tyson, on the other hand, was mocked in an early-April appearance last year, from which he's never recovered (allegedly). Ross lost four of his 14 games against the Dodgers last year. So let's go get us some chicken tonight!
Argh, too many bad puns. Head...hurts.
