Game 6 Thread: April 6 @ Padres, 1.05p

Derek Lowe (0-0) vs. Chris Young (1-0).

COMMENTS: Can't say there have been many surprises in this Padres series: The Dodgers have remained homerless and Jake Peavy dominated them yesterday. Now they face Chris Young, who went 1-1 with one no-decision and a 3.60 ERA against them last year. Can Lowe stay focused enough to keep the Dodgers in the game and can the bats deliver, even if they have to chip away with walks and singles? A win would give the Dodgers the series and create momentum for tomorrow, when they face (gulp) Dan Haren in Arizona.

We haven't lost a series all year, and the streak stays alive today. Chris Young goes down in flames, embarrassing his Princeton alums, and Lowe gets the win.

A bold prediction, sir.

You have to get on to steal!

Wow, Iguchi stroked that one. Lucky it was foul.

Lowe in trouble again.

Lowe in a lot of trouble in the first...shades of Penny last night. Wait, Lowe Ks Gonzalez! One out, men at the corners.

Alex Cora said...

LUCKY LOWE!!!!

Steve Sax said...

Lowe escapes the first, and then Ethier nails a home run to lead off the second!

Wow, scoring runs for Derek, that's novel!

ANDRE the GIANT!!!

Glad to be wrong! Again!

Does that catch by Jones make up for that weak ass strike out earlier?

Dewitt with ANOTHER great defensive play for the dodgers. I have to listen to the Padres annoucers - one of them said "what the heck is Ron Cey going on?" - Bringing back the oldies.

Why does Pierre always get rid of the ball so quickly after he catches it - esp after a 3rd out?

Orel said...

Hey Pierre! Keep the ball on the ground!

Steve Sax said...

"Poor Pierre, who lives by speed; when he hits the ball in the air, it's not going to help his cause any."
--Vin Scully, after Pierre flies to right in his first AB.

Hu to DeWitt to get Giles back in the third—great freakin' heads-up play!

Eric Karros said...

I see none of that on Gameday

"Ground ball to the Loney vacuum." Nice one, Vinny!

Eric Karros said...

Loney picked off?

Eric Karros said...

Unfortunately Loney's vacuum-like powers seem to remain in play when he's a baserunner.

Damon said...

The game isn't on extra innings!

Steve Sax said...

Wtf is up with Loney today? Picked off first, then error on a throw? Ouch.

Eric Karros said...

Vinny's vacuum comment about Loney mustn't be misinterpreted as meaning he sucks

Eric Karros said...

I'm guessing we shouldn't click on that

Orel said...

Bad link is gone. Like Pierre.

Alex Cora said...

Damon - Yeah I was wondering that too - Give Kemp the at bat cuz Pierre sucks - you are going to take him out anyways!

Eric Karros said...

Alex Cora said...

WOOOHOOO!!!! GO BLue!

Alex Cora said...

Karros: how long you been waiting to use that one?

Steve Sax said...

And Sammy Saito has an efficient six-pitch 9th for the save. Go Dodgers, 4-2 on the year!

Orel said...

Trevor Hoffman is officially human and I'm officially impressed with this win. Go Blue!

Eric Karros said...

I'm still waiting for a pitcher named Horton to make it to the show.

Orel said...

Ricky Horton. He even played for the Dodgers!
