Game 7 Thread: April 7 @ Diamondbacks, 6.40p

Esteban Loaiza (0-1) vs. Dan Haren (0-0).

COMMENTS: After a dramatic ninth-inning victory off of San Diego closer Trevor Hoffman, the Dodgers travel to Chase Field and its new HDTV video screen to face the other NL West-leading team. Those of us here in LA will have to watch Esteban Loaiza take the mound for the Dodgers in what is likely fewer than four and a half trillion colors, but at least our TV screen didn't cost $11M. Then again, Loaiza is costing the Dodgers $7M this year (he earned $1.17M from the Dodgers last year for his one win), so maybe that TV screen wasn't such a bad investment after all. We'll see after tonight's game.

The Dodgers have allowed only 11 runs this year, the fewest RA in the majors (St. Louis has allowed 13 runs).

UPDATE:

The lineup:

Furcal, SS
Martin, C
Loney, 1B
Kent, 2B
Ethier, RF
Jones, CF
DeWitt, 3B
Pierre, LF
Loaiza, P

Go Kansas!

Kansas isn't playing the Dodgers tonight. What the hell are you thinking, Orel?

Oh I'm sorry, are you no longer following the NCAA tournament?

Anonymous said...

Okay, WTF is going on here. 4-0 w/1 out in the 1st???

Steve Sax said...

Loaiza hasn't won in April in four years, and he promptly walks Young, gives up a triple to Byrnes, and let's Hudson score him. It is now 4-0 AZ in the first. Get Loiaza out of there!

I wonder if we'll see Chan Ho starting before long.

Steve Sax said...

Nice time for DeWitt to make an error. Will we ever get out of the first inning?

Jason Schmidt, this is all your fault.

4-0 after one, against a weak-hitting Dodger squad.

Thank god for Andre.

Steve Sax said...

Andruw Jones, blown opportunity for RBI #2.

We can't even chip away for one run. Pathetic.

Andre Ethier, stranded at third. This lineup is not working...we need to shake this up!

Kansas 33, Memphis 28 at the half.

Wait—did Loaiza just pitch a scoreless second?

Eric Byrnes' walk-up song sounds like The Outfield's "Your Love". Ah, okay...

Knock one out, JP!

Anonymous said...

It's not your week, Juan.

Nice catch by JP!

Nice catch by Ethier! We need the leather!

Anonymous said...

Well, Loaiza's settled down and Kent's homered. Can the Dodgers rally?

Anonymous said...

I see we are maintaining the status quo of suckiness.

Anonymous said...

We scored? Martin on 3rd with 0 out?

Anonymous said...

RBI Kent! 4-3 D'backs!

Anonymous said...

Aaugh! Memphis is taking control!

Anonymous said...

Chan Ho gives up the solo dinger. 5-3 D'backs.

What a basketball game!

KANSAS FOR THE TIE!!!

Eric Karros said...

Is there a baseball game on? I've been glued to the other channel, the suspense is unbearable. And I thought last week's "The Bachelor: London Calling" was intense.

Kansas up 4 in OT!

Anonymous said...

Ha ha, nice!

Can the Dodgers pull a Kansas tonight?

Eric Karros said...

Are you counting your chickens already?

Looks like we've jinxed our bullpen/pitchers with all the talk of how good they've been this year.

Eric Karros said...

That is, unless you are wondering if the Dodgers can tie it in the bottom of the ninth, go ahead big in extra innings but then choke and lose it in the end

Anonymous said...

Hey, I'm just wondering if there'll be extra innings.

Eric Karros said...

I guess they'd have to tie it in the top of the 9th...but then lose it in the bottom of the 11th.

Anonymous said...

If Loaiza hadn't given up 4 in the 1st, Park could be pitching now instead of Proctor. The starters have to be solid every time.

Eric Karros said...

Whatever happens, please don't go into double OT-

This basketball game is nuts!

Eric Karros said...

Doesn't look like it'll be going into extra innings...but then again with 2 mins left it didn't look like it was going into OT

Anonymous said...

One victory down, time for the Dodgers to do their part!

Anonymous said...

Martin on, Loney up, no out. Here we go!

Anonymous said...

10 pitches later, Loney singles.

Anonymous said...

2nd & 3rd, 2 out. Playing for pride here.

Anonymous said...

This would be a good time for Andruw to, well, stop sucking.

Anonymous said...

Sigh.
