Game 5 Thread: April 5 @ Padres, 12.55p

Brad Penny (1-0) vs. Jake Peavy (1-0).

COMMENTS: So far the Dodgers' strategy of working starting pitchers deep into the count has paid off, resulting in wins against Barry Zito, Matt Cain and Justin Germano. Now the real test comes as the Dodgers face Jake Peavy today and Chris Young tomorrow. Expect cavernous Petco Park to continue to hold the Dodgers homerless; they will have to manufacture runs like they did last night.

Today's lineup:

Furcal, SS
Martin, C
Loney, 1B
Kent, 2B
Ethier, RF
Jones, CF
Pierre, LF
DeWitt, 3B
Penny, P

Pierre gets the start over Kemp. Not surprising, as Kemp is 2 for 15 on the season.

Surprised to see Chad Billingsley pitch two innings of relief last night? Here's Joe Torre's thinking, from Tony Jackson:

By the way, after Billingsley pitched the final two innings tonight on the heels of his abbreviated season debut Wed., Torre announced that Billingsley and Loaiza will be flipped in PHX, with Loaiza moved up to Monday and Bills pushed back to Tuesday.

What if we started a Game Thread and no one showed up?

Bad day for the blue. Sorry I couldn't comment during the game but I was having my botox treatment.

Dodgers and Bruins both lose, ouch. If Brad hadn't had that one shake inning--
