New "42" Movie Poster

I was driving along 6th Street in LA today and noticed a new movie poster for the upcoming Jackie Robinson biopic, "42". I started getting teary-eyed and damn near wrecked the car. I didn't have time to snap a picture but I found a hi-res version online:

There are more here.

Didn't that moment actually take place on the infield?

I am watching the Dodgers' spring training game from a foreign country. And it is glorious.

Uribe, on the other hand, still sucks. Two Royals score on his error.

Dodgers down 7-2, T7. Dodgers get consecutive hits to right to lead off the inning

4-6-3 DP gets Puig at second. Urine standing on third

Kemp caught looking, strands Urine.

Holy smokes, Mattingly got tossed arguing Kemo's called third strike.

We brought in Gordon at third, moved Urine to first. Jansen is still pitching.

And now we are down 8-2.

And, we lose.

According to what I've read, that moment may or may not have actually happened, or at least in the way often portrayed, but grew more out of the fact that Reese took Jackie in and defended him, and at one point on the field made some sort of symbolic movement to signal he had Jackie's back.

NY Times article on the issue:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/02/sports/baseball/02robinson.html?_r=0

"The statue shows the two players, with Reese's arm around Robinson's shoulder. There is no photograph of the moment. It is not totally certain if Reese, the shortstop, put his hand on Robinson's shoulder, or his arm around him, or just moved up close to him."

Aren't the two standing on the edge of the infield in this shot?

BTW you really aren't going to like this movie if you're going to be a stickler for history. For instance, Jay-Z, who did the soundtrack, was not contemporary with Jackie and the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Or not (re Jay-Z):

It feels like Uribe was on the team back then.

Completely agree, Spanky.

Saw the movie. Dusty and Spank don't worry it is just in the trailer, no where in the movie or soundtrack.
