Post-Game 7 Thread: Sweep!

DODGERS 3, PIRATES 2

The Dodgers did all their scoring in the first inning tonight: Mellis single, Kemp double, Ethier HBP, Rivera sac & RBI, Loney (!) single & RBI, Uribe (!) single & RBI.

A few trends worth noting. One: the Dodger bats are scoring a lot of two-out runs. Two: the defense seems to be especially sharp — not only up the middle, where Mellis is flashing quite a bit of range, but also at the corners with Uribe and Loney. Ajellis also got in on the act, throwing out Andrew McCutchen trying to steal second. Three: Don Mattingly is going to the bullpen early, and with good results. MacDougal, Elbert (barely), Lindblom and Guerrier all recorded holds tonight, and Guerra got his fifth save.

Dodgers are now 6-1 for the first time since 1981. But don't read anything into that.

@ Nic form the GT

I've wondered why they didn't start "grooming" Sands for 1B and put pressure on Loney to get his shit together.

Continuing from Nic's comment: Trade for David Wright and move Uribe to first?

NicJ said...

Maybe. I worry about Wright though, dude is always hurt.

Maybe throw a boatload of the arms we have at the Rays and try to snag Longoria.

NicJ said...

I believe Longoria's contract has the potential to start getting on the high side for the Rays and it might be something they would be interested in.

I don't think the Rays would be willing to part with Longoria, and if they did, they'd want a treasure trove of MLB-ready prospects that the Dodgers don't have.

Mike Nappoli come on down!

(cries)

The NBA would block any trade for Longoria.

Nice one, Paul!

Yeah our corner offense sucks. Why isn't Loney lifting the ball like last Sep?

Loney must still have lost memory from the car wreck last November.

James Loney is so bad, he should be called James Leno.

at least Loney broke the seal tonight...
