PHOENIX, AZ — In a revelation sure to rock professional football, New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin revealed wide receiver David Tyree was wearing a high-tech "gag helmet" that helped fool the New England Patriots' defensive line in yesterday's stunning Super Bowl upset.

"Nowhere in the NFL rulebook does it say a player cannot superglue a regulation football to his helmet," said Coughlin in explaining how the Giants coaching staff came up with the idea, which paid off in the fourth quarter during a play some football pundits are already christening "The Catch."

"This thing worked wonders," Tyree said after the game as he examined the gag helmet. "I would go so far as to say it's the Super Bowl MVP."
