Guard Changing Rapidly, Donnie Next?

From this morning:
Dodgers fire bench coach Trey Hillman (LAT)

From last night:
Sue Falsone will not return as Dodgers' head trainer (LAT)

The story is developing at faster-than-Twitter-can-keep-up-with speed, but all signs are pointing to Don Mattingly exiting. Stay tuned!

Donnie is as good as done. Looks to me they fired Trey behind his back to see if the could get him to resign.

Ye gods, it IS going to be Dusty, isn't it? And Ron Wotus as bench coach? And Dave Groeschner as trainer? And Dave Spaghetti as pitching coach?

I'm feeling queasy.

Man I love Dusty Baker but he is no upgrade. Contrary to the rumors Sue Falsone's departure was totally her decision.

La Russa is my bet. Why else would he have been at CK's Ping Pong lovefest?

Donnie really screwed the pooch with his decision making in the playoffs. He may have cost us that win in game 1 of the NLCS, but the players also did their fair share of failing during that game.

Looks like we have a new second baseman tambien.

Namesake as he may be, and as much as I loved him as a player, please not Dusty Baker. His pitcher and game management is the opposite direction the team needs to go.

Here's the situation as I understand it:

Guggenhomies like Donnie's clubhouse management, but hate his in-game decision-making. They have deduced that he gets a lot of that decision-making from Hillman, so they shitcanned him. (Something they wanted to do last year, but Donnie prevented it somehow.)
Now, it's either they get a bench coach who a) has strategy they like and b) Donnie will listen to OR they figure firing Donnie's best bud will get him to walk.

Seems awfully complicated. Why not just bring in someone else, rather than try to mold Donnie?

@ Gnomes

i don't know. Seems weird Guggenhomies fire just Hilmann if he was calling the shots. I'd fire Mattingly just as quickly if that was the deal. We'll see what's up soon enough.

I know bench coaches can be important, but if Hillman was calling that many shots, that's a poor reflection on Mattingly.
