The Dodgers stay alive tonight with a ninth-inning victory over an overmatched team. Andre Ethier took Matt Cain deep in the fourth for a 2-1 lead, and though the Giants tied it in the eighth when Shane Victorino forgot how to both field AND throw on the same play, Elian Herrera capped a ninth inning with a one-out, bases-loaded rocket that was too hot for the Giants' Marco Scutaro to handle on the fly. Hanley Ramirez, who led the ninth off with a single up the middle, was the winning run.
The Cardinals won, to cut their magic number to one. But you can't hate on the Dodgers when we walk off with the victory! So let's keep this winning streak (six, tied for our longest of the year) going.
