Got a message from SoSG reader Joe:
Yo!
This summer I am planning a trip to Chicago with my grandson specifically to see the Dodgers and the Cubs play. Is there a particular section or area I should try to get tickets for to be with other Dodger fans? And enjoy the unique Chicago culture of course! Any thoughts for other recreational ideas while there?
I don't know the answer to Joe's questions, so I thought we'd open this up to the readership. Any Chicago folks out there?

A Dodgers game with your grandson is EVERYTHING.
Kershaw was lights out.
I put the question out on Twitter too. I'll post anything helpful here.
"Brandon Knudsen @Knudervalve
@sosgsosg Went to two [last year] sat on visitors side both times and had a blast. Cubs fans are generally pleasant as long as you aren't an ass."
Kind of good advice in general. Thanks, Gnomes!
How about that Gonzalez homer?!
I was there in sept. 3rd base side is best for Dodgers. Also the dodger bus is right near where you enter. Great for autographs if you want. I went to one of the rooftops "beyond the ivy" it was pretty cool especially if you like beer but not so much to see the game with family. I was by myself and 4 games thought I would do one
Thanks, Chip & Brandon!
I went to a game there about 10 years ago. Walked up to the ticket window at like 9am and asked for 2 tickets. They asked "Who are you here to see?" Caught me off guard, but I did say the Cubs (they were playing MIL I think). They told me come back in 2 hours for late released tickets. Not sure if they are still this brazen, but maybe don't walk up to the window with your Dodgers gear on to ensure getting a ticket.
As far as culture, go to Sluggers before the game for some good deep dish pizza and Old Style beer. Plus there's a batting cage above the bar!
Cubby Bear is a tourist trap
Thanks guys!
I have been trapped in that tourist trap Cubby Bear many times, in fact.
I took the trip with the family in August 2013. Had a great time. Chicago folks are some of the most friendly fans I've met. Any seat should be good. Don't know how old your grandson is but a trip to the top of the Sky Deck in the former Sears tower at dusk would be something. We did it and met some great fans from LA. Have a great time.
Thanks Scott!
