Today features the Dodgers' second to last game, which is completely meaningless. This would have been the best time to trot out a starting-pitching-by-committee strategy, but we had to employ that against the Cubs last Sunday when something was still on the line. Haren isn't likely to figure more than several innings in order to save him
It seems like just yesterday we were bitching about the opening games being in Australia and the fact the we weren't able to watch the games on TV. And really, what's changed? (Tepid thanks to TWC for throwing us a belated 6-game viewing bone.)
Let's get through this one hopefully with a win, if not let's keep it close and respectable, and avoid injuries. I'll be out there today so hit me up if you want to buy me my second to the last beers of the season. Tomorrow, at least a couple of us Sons will also be there so hit us up if you want to buy us the last beers of the season.*
*The regular season I mean. We still expect free beer throughout the playoffs.

Pirates lose on a walk-off grand slam. If the Cards win tonight @ AZ, the NLC tiebreaker scenario is unnecessary--and the Giants go to Pittsburgh for the wild card.
Is this the first time both the Dodgers and Giants have made the postseason?
Pedro Moura @pedromoura 2m
Juan Uribe will manage the Dodgers tomorrow, Don Mattingly said. Kershaw pitching coach.
I loved Gary Larson cartoons as a kid, still do as an adult
Uribe > Mattingly
The Killeens will be in the house tomorrow as well! Send us an email and we'll meet n greet for SOSG fest Round Final!
Will do, Team Killeen!
1-0 Dodgers early.
Dee pulled, looked like he tweaked something running out a grounder
AG out for SVS after a walk
Didn't Dee get removed earlier?
Other than the HanRam thank, I think the pulls are about preservation.

Dee Gordon: right hip irritation. Day to day. #Dodgers
@Orel, probably, been flipping around and saw the replay of the injury. I'll do better with the timeliness of my reporting
Right hip irritation for Dee, whatever that means
Puig pissed at Bundy again. He stole second and went to third on the bad throw. He nearly dove into third but pulled up late and gave Bundy a glare
SVS drives him in! 2-2 good guys!
I was afraid when Puig pulled up to third. Looked like he pulled something, but I guess he's fine
Matty drives in SVS with a double - 3-2 good guys!
@Orel, yeah it looked really awkward
5-2 good guys after another middle-innings scoring outburst!
Cards lose!
*pulls one out*
Who's coaching third? Al Bundy?
Joc rips one into right
what are the chances he makes the postseason roster? 1% or 0?
bad K for SVS
FedEx grounds back to the pitcher, Joc left at 3rd
Wright still in for the 7th
Elbert coming in.
I am scared Donnie is seriously considering him for the postseason roster
I am scared Donnie is considering Beckett and Billingsley for the postseason roster
Elbert walks Ynoa after getting Blackmon. Hopefully that keeps Elbert off the postseason roster
Nice plays by Rojas and SVS to end the inning
OK I need some bed
hang onto this win
Stay up FB we need you!
All tied up in the 9th
On to the 12th...
Whoa! SVS steals third base in the 12th!
Did SVS score on a wild pitch to win the game in the 12th? Who pitched themselves off the playoff roster? It was 5-2 when I put on a movie.
WOOP!
@Q7 Paco gave up another homer to lefty Ben Paulson (the same guy 2 nights in a row) to blow the save but got Blackmon and Ynoa to ground out. Elbert got Blackmon to ground out but walked Ynoa in his 2 batters. They were both pulled before facing righty batters with 2 outs. Donnie obviously isn't just using them to eat outs. So they aren't exactly playing their way onto the postseason roster
Frias had a good three innings in extras. You almost want certain borderline guys to fail a little to make the decision-making easier
pgt up
