Clayton Kershaw (0-0, -.--) vs. Wade Miley (0-0, -.--)
Crikey! It's tiiiiiime for real Dodger baseball that counts!
Only, there isn't a single thing about this that isn't weird. The game is in Sydney, Australia. The Diamondbacks are the home team for some unknown reason. It's being played on a converted cricket field. Said cricket field has roughly 32 square miles of foul territory. The Dodgers have more exhibition games to play when they get home. First pitch has been supposedly pushed back to about 1:45am L.A. time. The ghost of Chone Figgins somehow made the roster. And oh yeah, about 70% of the Dodgers' TV audience won't be able to see it due to TWC not making deals with most TV providers yet. Though, SportsNet LA is hosting some of us unsavory blog-types for a viewing party tonight. (DelinO, the Killeens, and I are the SoSG contingent.) We are appreciative, lest they think we're biting the hand that gives us free stuff. (Plus, if this were any other year, they'd have another week and a half to make deals before real games started.)
Yet, despite all the negatives, there will be two VERY big positives: Vin Scully will be calling a game started by Clayton Kershaw. For those who can see and hear that combination, all will be right with the world. ("A very pleasant G'Day to you, wherever you may be!")
Last, but certainly not least, SoSG Sax and AC will be at the game, offering their completely biased perspective. (Pending functioning cell service at the Sydney Cricket Ground.)
NOTE: Thread is going up way early for those of you who don't feel like staying up.
