Get it? De la Rosa? Wood? Ah, forget it. I didn't get enough sleep.
Alex Wood (3-4, 4.53) vs. Jorge De La Rosa (9-6, 4.28)
OK, so last night (and this morning) sucked. The Dodgers draaaaaaaagged out a 16-inning affair, only to lose 5-4. Even though the Giants lost, and the Dodgers' magic number shrunk to 11, it was still an ugly night.
Let's not talk about that. Let's talk about tonight. Specifically, tonight's lineup. Normally, we post the lineup in the comments (and you still can, purists), but this lineup is so spectacular, it needs to be highlighted for posterity...
Tonight’s #Dodgers lineup:
Barnes 2B
Utley 1B
Ruggiano LF
Seager SS
Ellis C
Guerrero 3B
Heisey RF
Pederson CF
Wood P #whiff

I mean, just look at that. Marvel at it! This is truly what September baseball with a 7.5-game lead was made for!

Now that's a lineup!
Most of this lineup couldn't make the cut into the SoSG softball lineup. Are we possibly going for a third no-hit game this season?? Mutt must be looking to get his name in the record books any old way he can.
Tuesday night; Turner takes out Arenado on a slide into second, and Walt Weiss goes nuts with Arenado yipping as well.
Wednesday night, Mattingly makes sure 1-7 in the lineup are plunkable.
By the way, what is "#whiff"? Does that refer to our pitcher, or our lineup?
It's a Twitter promo with Head & Shoulders. Team with most #whiff mentions wins money toward charity
Karen, you try running the bases after two pitchers of beer!
@Orel 4:40p: oh, we'll have a lot of #whiff mentions today, don't worry
(scratches scalp)
Touche Orel!!
I don't know if it's the oppressive heat that is just hanging in the air day after day, these very uninspiring lineups or maybe my bad attitude in general but I am not feeling good about our post season chances. We have a strong lead over that team in our rear view mirror and a magic number of 11 but does this look like a championship team to any of you? After Clay and Zack take their turns on the mound it feels like 'Hold the hell on fans you're going on the roller coaster from hell'. I know we have talent offensively and defensively, I just am not seeing much of it these days. And for god sake do not get me started on our 3, 4, 5 starters (whoever the hell they are from week to week) and THAT bullpen. Holy shit what a hot mess. Tell me you guys...am I being to critical here?? I really want to be wrong but have this nagging feeling I'm not.
I feel the same way. My gut tells me we're a first-round playoff exit but my brain points out that the NLDS is best of five so we stand a chance. No way we win the NLCS though.
You are thinking exactly the way I am. At the risk of pissing off the baseball gods, I do think we've got the division again. I worry about those piece of shit Cardinals in the NLCS. I don't want a repeat of last season and I especially don't want Clayton to experience anything like the heartbreak he had to endure last postseason.
just posted an at-game video. SCARY--be warned
LAD 1, COL 0 (end 4)
Saxy...The part that I found scary was how badly Fernando was shaking...obviously he shares our postseason concerns for the Boys...
2-0 LA through 7
SF up 4-1, T6
Besides Seager and Adrian Gonzalez (a late add), there is no one in the lineup batting above .260
come on Kenley
Beautiful game for Wood.
Magic number...10
Night guys!!
that is quite possibly the sorriest lineup to have ever won a game
MATTINGLY IS BRILLIANT
Peavy chased in SF, with Reds down 4-2, T7, no out and a man on second
Giants win so magic number stays at 10
