Game 152 Thread: Sept. 24 vs. DBacks, 12p

Magic Number

Clayton Kershaw (14-7, 2.18) vs. Patrick Corbin (6-4, 2.99)

What the what? Didn't SoSG AC, Sax, Nomo, and Dusty just leave the last game about twenty minutes ago? Felt like it after trying to get out of the parking lot last night. Today features the extremely rare home weekday get-away day game, or as we at SoSG call them, hangover days.

Fresh off last night's miraculous non-Greinke start win and the much-appreciated Padres win over the Gnats, Dodgers now have the number five in their minds. Interestingly, Kershaw has only started against the DBags once this season, an outing in which he got his ass kicked. Turn that around, get out of town, and put this NL West title to bed, boys.

Dusty...I'll be in dis bish today...

Orel...Hi!

Very appropriate choice by Dusty to use Corey's number 5 in the GT to represent our MN (the superstitious baseball fan in me is afraid to actually say magic number, also, that same superstitious girl who lives inside of me is afraid to say that I'm finally starting to get excited....shhhhhh, don't tell anyone I said that).

Dusty Baker said...

Sax has a superstitious girl living inside of him, too. It's weird when she giggles and Sax gets all embarrassed.

For some reason, I am at the ballpark today. Will provide clarification of any in-game confusion if possible.

Steve Dittmore said...

S'up Dusty (and others)... I am here because, well, it's a day game.

Little known fact: the graphic used in last night's Late Breaking News post is from the local ABC affiliate here in NW Arkansas.

P. Ditty in da hizzouse,yo!

Fred's Brim said...

jesus, as soon as I tune in, they start scoring. What the hell?

Fred's Brim said...

Ditty!

Fred's Brim said...

three straight hits vs Clayton? that happens about as often as Dusty passes up a 3rd Cadillac

Fred's Brim said...

Clayton not getting them past anybody so far, singles and lots of fouls

Fred's Brim said...

swinging strikeout, needed that, 1 down

Steve Sax said...

Great GT and accompanying picture, Dustometer

Fred's Brim said...

Good to see Truck Turner back in the lineup

Fred's Brim said...

Greg, are you close to the broadcast booth? Can you scream "SONS OF STEVE GARVEY"? I might be able to hear on this broadcast

Dusty Baker said...

@FB re Cadillacs

It's never happened!

Fred's Brim said...

Clayton Ks Owings for the second out

Time to wriggle off this hook

Fred's Brim said...

there we go, let's get this back

Greg said...

Brim, I'm up in the reserved.

Fred's Brim said...

AJ with a 2-out double!

Fred's Brim said...

damn, Heisey nearly had one there, Tomas gets lucky

karen said...

Spanky...If you're out there...Maybe you can take Heisey under your wing (think dre) and put some fear in him of the repercussions that only you can unleash...

Fred's Brim said...

ugh, Clayton playing with fire, 2 on for Goldschmidt

spank said...

come on,Kersh. sack up!

Fred's Brim said...

heh, Vin just call them Snakes

spank said...

will do my best Karen. it'd be much more effective and easier to unleash the wrath if Heisey were to piss me off though.

Fred's Brim said...

I am so fucking tired of Paul Goldschmidt

karen said...

Usually it isn't until the play offs that I live and die with every single pitch. I'm sure most of us are like that, but I'm starting to find myself doing that now...making myself way to stressed and intense. I think I may have picked the wrong week to give up heroin.

Fred's Brim said...

Clayton with a single

karen said...

That's our boy, Kersh!!

spank said...

damn. sooooooooooo close

Fred's Brim said...

Ruggiano nearly gets one but it's foul

Greg said...

Wow. Taking pitches. What a concept.

spank said...

weak sauce Rollins

Fred's Brim said...

thanks for taking a pitch, Jimmy

karen said...

Spanky...Mutt is doing his lefty - righty lineup thing based on the opposing pitcher.

Fred's Brim said...

wha? Drury with a homer off Kershaw? Clayton is off today

spank said...

BREAK OUT THE HEROIN KAREN!

Fred's Brim said...

can't see how this lineup is going to catch up to 3

karen said...

Whoever that Hill dude is...fuck him.

Fred's Brim said...

SVS with a 1-out single

Fred's Brim said...

Aaron Hill muffs AJ's grounder, SVS to third and will no doubt be left there

karen said...

I take it back...the Hill dude is A-OK.

karen said...

Heisey Spank...Are you pissed yet??

Fred's Brim said...

Is it bad luck? or bad playing?

Fred's Brim said...

i am tired of this AAA lineup
makes me want to quit AA

spank said...

well shit. that was worthless.

Steve Sax said...

Why the fuck is Kershaw down 3-0?!

Greg said...

McGwire should channel his 'roid rage on these players that swing at everything.

Fred's Brim said...

Clayton done

karen said...

Clay looking a little pissed at Mutt at being pulled.

Fred's Brim said...

Ruggiano mistiming his hits, ends up at third after the throw ends up in the camera well

but, no matter, he'll be left there

Greg said...

Karen, he should be. With this bullpen, it's like giving up.

Fred's Brim said...

Rollins walks to set up the double play

Fred's Brim said...

Turner walks, double play still in order

spank said...

bases juiced for Jimi

karen said...

are they teasing us or is maybe something good happening???

Fred's Brim said...

Howie! 2-3 good guys!

Greg said...

No one throwing yet. Waiting to see how the inning shapes up.

spank said...

*in Samuel L. Jackson voice* - "fuck getting Kershaw off the hook. i wanna win this motherfucking game."

Greg said...

Nicasio warming I think.

Fred's Brim said...

SVS can't hit lefties anymore

Greg said...

Veteran AB.

Fred's Brim said...

GRAND SLAM CHRIS HEISEY?!?!?!?!?

spank said...

wish i had a tub of Hi-Chew like the one next to Kid K on the bench. that shit is the most.

spank said...

AND YOU'RE WELCOME,Y;ALL

Fred's Brim said...

Now that's what I call getting your pitcher off the hook!

spank said...

SIDDOWN YOU MUTT!

Fred's Brim said...

Someone put the fear of Spank in him!

karen said...

All credit on that slam goes to my buddy Spank!!

Fred's Brim said...

Guerrero with a double?!?

Steve Sax said...

Chris Heisey?!?! Wow

Greg said...

One reason why this is the greatest game in the world.

spank said...

Austin Barnes? wasn't he the dude who caught Will Ferrel when he pitched with the Dodgers?

Steve Dittmore said...

I leave my computer for a few minutes and Chris Heisey happened???

Fred's Brim said...

OK gotta head home, get this win, SOSGers and SOSGettes!

spank said...

walk another one Nicasio. load the bases. fuck it

Greg said...

Now that's the sort of sneaky shit we need!

spank said...

Bomb Squad in full effect. no damage yet but that's always a possibility. Yimi's turn on the flame thrower.

Greg said...

Bullpen tightrope.

Greg said...

What sorcery is this? Hatcher doesn't allow any base runners or runs?? There is magic afoot.

karen said...

THAT'S A WRAP!! ON TO DENVER PEEPS!!

spank said...

Winster!

Orel said...

Unexpected win! Still nervous about the playoffs though

spank said...

you should be,Orel. you should be.

Fred's Brim said...

Ian Kennedy pitching like he bet on the Giants to repeat, but its 3-2 Padres

Fred's Brim said...

Double play gets Kennedy out of a bases loaded jameroo

Fred's Brim said...

Feeling Spank's pain, watching the SD broadcast. I generally like Dick Enberg but he Steiners a lot of balls

Fred's Brim said...

Goddamn, Ian Kennedy is awful, 11 hits in 4+ innings

Fred's Brim said...

If Oyster Pubes wasn't 0-3, the Gnats would have 20 runs instead of 3. Somehow it's just 3-3

Orel said...

Still a loseable game for the Giants

Orel said...

All tied up!

Orel said...

Courtesy of Matt Kemp!

Fred's Brim said...

Thank you to the Padres and the Frisco bullpen
