Brett Anderson (9-8. 3.36) vs. Chris Rusin (5-8, 5.14).
Shoot, it's right before the time when this GameThread (TM) is supposed to post, and I don't see any of us Sons Rusin to post some comments. So I'll hastily remind us that our magic number is 12 with 19 for us to play and 18 for the Giants. 37 more outcomes, and we just have to make sure 12 of those go our way.
Our opposing starter is 9-17 lifetime with a 5+ ERA, and that includes three years with the Cubs (so it's not just a Coors Field-inflated number). But if hitting coach Mark McGwire is going to tell our boys any advice tonight, he should remind them that it's only them standing solitary in the batting box, with no one else with them for support. Or, put another way, wise men say, "lonely" fools Rusin.
That totally did not work.

Checkin' in from the nose-bleedingest of nose bleed seats in the left field reserve. Go Blue!
Y'all know that I am our resident MKW but what you didn't know is that I am the ultimate Elvis fan. Having The King leading off our GT can only mean a win for Blue that leaves the Rox All Shook Up.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
Welp, there goes Anderson's no-hitter.
Reserve 2.
Two can play that bunting game.
1-0 Boys before the seats are warm...
3-0 Reds at BirdShit Park...
@karen 7:07p: Love it.
I've been to Graceland and I found it an incredible experience, in a little way surprisingly so. I got a keener understanding of Elvis' legacy and frankly it was pretty impressive. But the funniest part for me (and bear with me on this) was in the queue to the final stop on the tour, Elvis' gravesite, to which people continue to send flowers and wreathes and stuff. Everyone is relatively solemn in that queue past the grave, either in general reverence and respect for the dead, or because they're interested in seeing the gravestone misspelling and wondering if Elvis is really buried there (or dead at all).
Anyway, there was one huge wreathe that said "We Remember Elves". And my friends and I saw that misspelling and started cracking up. To which we got all these looks of derision from everyone else, and we felt bad and all, but come ON! ELVES? That's some pretty funny stuff right there.
Now, back to this one.
1-0 Dodgers, bottom of the third.
ooh, nifty new blue bar (and dot) in the box score of mlb.com GameDay
Anderson falling apart here, Seager not helping with a throwing error
2-1 Col
Saxy...Visiting Graceland is on my bucket list. I was lucky enough to see him in concert when I was 10. As young as I was I knew I was seeing something pretty special. Back in those days he would wear a silk scarf during the concert and when it was good and sweaty he would give it to someone in the audience and I got one from him. It smelled like his cologne for YEARS and is one of my prized possessions.
...and back to this one...somehow the Rox are up 3-1...
IT'S RAINING MEN
3-1 and finally anderson gets out of it
Might be a rain delay. Rain is increasing. People are running for cover.
JT looks frustrated trying to hit in this rain...
Pubes ties game at BirdShit with a 3 run homer...
Stupid Brewers can't come through, Cards win.
SF takes the lead. We're still down 3-1 in the 7th. Would be nice if we had some offense.
Hit it far, Seager. Those guys are slow.
RA for Heisey with no outs...
Barnes pops to shallow left and 3 Rox let it drop in between them...all tied at 3...
First and second, nobody out. Let's end this, Dodgers!
Bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, no out. HOW WILL WE SQUANDER THIS OPPORTUNITY?
One out, sorry
Welp. I thought I was being facetious.
There must be a Dodger record this year for extra innings.
Free baseball.
At this rate, *I* might have to pitch for the Rockies!
Blue Purgatory On Earth.
holy shit we're in the 11th
...and now losing
now would be a nice time for a walkoff HR, Corey
and, SF ties it in the bottom of the ninth (which is still going), so it's 8-8
HEISEY! Tied up
Wait, this is still going on?
Still at the ball yard.
Way to represent, Greg!
Lucky 13th inning.
Or not.
15th inning!
Still here!!
"And we are ready for sweet sixteen." —Vin
Get comfy, Greg!
The Latos Effect. Good night —
Latos, OF COURSE, gives up a home run
CIN 9, SF 8: F/10
Latos complains that he should have come in for the 15th inning, not the 16th inning
Dodgers have first and second, one out, Grandal up (B 16)
Grandal broken bat FC, so first and third with two out.
Ronald Torreyes (0-for-1 with a walk) up
Called strike 2 was reaaaaaaaally low
And, Torreyes Ks on three pitches. Colorado wins in 16.
Magic number drops to 11 on the Giants' loss.
I fell asleep somewhere in the 16th. Looks like that was the wise choice. :(
I wonder if Greg is still at Dodger Stadium.
