Alex Wood (1-3, 4.58) vs. Mike Leake (1-3, 5.10)
The good news: This is the Sunday Night Baseball game on ESPN so everyone can watch. The bad news: The nation will be watching, so performance anxiety could be a factor.
Few predicted that the Dodgers would be going for a series sweep against the Cardinals this afternoon. Poor as the Cardinals have been this year, they usually have the Dodgers' number (especially in the playoffs). And the pitching setup did not bode well going into the series: Stripling-->Kazmir-->Wood. Yet here we are pinning our hopes on the third leg of that coyote ugly rotation. Will Wood be able to go the distance, and not struggle with the long ball? Can he hold up for more than four or five innings? I mean, come on, it happens to everybody sometimes, right?

Premature ejaculation of the lineup:
Utley, 2B
Seager, SS
Turner, 3B
Gonzalez, 1B
Grandal, C
Kendrick, LF
Puig, RF
Pederson, CF
Wood, P
Surprised Howie isn't catching today.

No Vinny tonight. I feel cheated.
Okay kids!!! Let's kill us some Cardinals!
Justin Turner getting the indepth interview. And he's talking about the Justin Turner Chia Pet.
Wood Ks Fryer
Freaking Matt Carpenter. 1-0 Turds T3.
And, Wood gives up a tater. Almost gives up two, but Pederson catches it at the wall.
1-0 StL, B3
Corey Seager!
And Corey answers right back!! 1-1...
1-1
Dammit Sax...You beat me to it!
1-1 through 3
@karen, i won't be able to stay ahead of you for long on this game. Keep commenting!
Going to mid 4. This game is just humming right along...
Wood gets his 5th K going to B5 still tied 1-1.
piscotty loses track of the count?
oh i see, it may have hit him on the shoe.
if we have first and second with no outs, Wood isn't going to last here.
Roberts out to the mound. He's telling Wood: this is your last chance, Alex. National TV and all. No pressure.
wait what just happened there
shhhh...don't say anything but Alex Wood is doing good....
Hell yeah! Way to get out of the inning. We're sporting good Wood!
DAMMIT!
Wow. Holliday GIDP, then Grichuk grounds out to short! Wood gets out of it!
AMAZING
1-1, mid-6
We're looking great on natl TV. Great PR. Good crowd at the Yard, too.
wow, I looked down from the television after the GIDP and they were already cutting to the commercial. Awesome.
Let's do this, boys
@Dusty 6:46p: we still have plenty of time to fuck this one up, Dusty
Gotcha Dust!
Really pissed off that, even with the Viagra theme, we didn't make a Leake Wood reference in there anywhere
#GTregrets
Leake taking a long time there to figure out the pitch to A-Gon, with a 2-2 count
3-2 count to A-Gon
A-Gon works the walk. One out
lotsa little kid shots on ESPN TV. Vin would be proud
G(IDP)randal there. Dammit.
1-1 through 6
A-Gon should have gone all Utley rule there and slid into someone, anyone
@Sax
I was thinking about finding a prostate joke in there somewhere but you know I'm way to classy for that!!
Just your everyday 1-5-3 out. Ho hum...
Good D by Chutley there.
I hate you Molina. 3-1 Turds.
WHY JOE BLANTON
What the fuck kind of pitching move was that, Roberts
Might as well put in Hatcher
Blanton.
'nuff said...
they are fucking teeing off on Blanton. PULL HIS ASS OUT OF THERE
4-1 Stl
Freaking. Joe. Blanton.
Day late and a dollar short Joe.
IBB then first pitch double. IBB then first pitch RBI single. Blanton in a nutshell.
Hatchet warming in the pen but we stick with Blanton in the 8th. Lead off double is a given.
A hatchet might be a better option out of the pen right now.
Passed ball and sac fly finally get Roberts to come with the hook.
Liberatore in now.
5-1, Joe Blanton still sucks in the eighth inning, too
I think that was when I knew I loved Scotty van Smash. When he just stood out there on the third base foul line staring down Joe Kelly in the NLCS.
Number 2 for Corey. Score: Blanton 5 - Seager 2.
Why does it seem like we always play bad on Sunday Night on ESPN?
Why is Blanton even given an appearance on Sunday night ESPN? Ridiculous call, Davey.
