Giants' Win Worth A Lot Less Since No One Cares

From the notes section of USA Today this morning (no link):

A full postseason share for the World Series champion San Francisco Giants was worth $317,631, down from a record $350,030 for the New York Yankees in 2009.

A 9% haircut to Oyster Pubes and crew? Ha, ha!

I wouldn't be complaining. The Team Customer WS share was probably around -$347.50 counting bar tabs (even further into the red if you count future therapy/rehab)

Anyone think Eric Stults will turn into a Dodger-killer for the Rox?

Shawn Green said...

Stults has a 6.19 ERA in Coors. Smart money's on him flaming out.

What's a Hawksworth?

Oh, about one Theriot.

United taking it in the arse from West Ham. Today is a good day.

Wicks said...

I don't see a westham / man u fixture, what are you talking about? What is you epl club mr c?

Nostradamus said...

@Wicks

Carling Cup. It's currently four-nil.

I'm a L'pool guy, so schadenfreude is all I got right now.

Wicks said...

Duh, I should have figured that! I'm a Spurs supporter so you are probably very unhappy with me now.

Nostradamus said...

...and there's final time!

@Wicks

Can't blame y'all for our ineptitude. Last week was an especially pitiful display.

I save my loathing for the Mancs and Everton. Keep your head on a swivel for rbnlaw, though.

Wicks said...

rbnlaw must be a Gunner?

Wicks said...

Perhaps we should have open EPL threads during the weekends of the baseball offseason?

OR we can just highjack threads like this one!

Nostradamus said...

Indeed, he is, and Dusty's a blue. I prefer the stealth attack for footy talk.

Nostradamus said...

The twitterverse seems to thing there are some happening in the McCourt case.

rbnlaw said...

Ha! Good form for the Gooners today. Of course, Wigan had no chance with no scorers in sight.

Good to have RVP back in the thick of things. Even if he's not up to snuff, at least he's not hurt. . .yet.

Who the fuck are Man U.?

rbnlaw said...

The guy tweeting as @DodgersGM is a fucking riot.

Need to read the Shaikin piece on the divorce settlement.

rbnlaw said...

OK, read it.

BLAME JAMIE!!!

sellSellSELL!

Looks like Frank is acting like the team is his. The wallet is open and mediocrity is coming our way!!

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

If you thought we screwed ourselves by signing Uribe, the Giants just signed Miguel Tejada.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Dylan Hernandez has the particulars of Uribe's contract.

RT @dylanohernandez: Juan Uribe will be paid $5 million next year, $8 million in 2012, $7 million in 2013 and $1 million in 2014. #Dodgers

Kyle Baker said...

Still not hating the Uribe thing, folks. I'd certainly rather him him than Tejada.

LA Times item:

"Frank McCourt says yes to proposed settlement, but Jamie McCourt says no
November 30, 2010 | 3:28 pm
Frank McCourt accepted a mediator's proposal to settle the Dodgers' divorce case Tuesday, but Jamie McCourt rejected the proposal. The mediator, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Peter Lichtman, declared the two sides at impasse, court spokeswoman Mary Hearn said."

In other breaking, unexpected news, I just opened a beer after work.

Kyle Baker said...

Wicks, glad to know you are a Premiership follower. Never knew that. We have a lot of the good clubs represented on Sons, it would seem. Blessedly, we have no ManU supporters, and I for one want to keep it that way.

Who the fuck are Man United, anyway!

Kyle Baker said...

From Inside the Dodgers blog (re our fat bastard):

"He couldn't have been a nicer guy and his wife was also very kind. He said that Manny Mota pretty much called him every day after the World Series telling him how much the Dodgers wanted to see him in Blue and he said that it was very meaningful to him that the team cared so much about him. Before they took off from the stadium, we armed them with all sorts of hats and Dodger items to bring back to the Dominican and we're certainly looking forward to having him on the team in 2011."

Very cool. Stand up for your second baseman!

spank said...

I'd rather lick a porcupine than cheer for a World Series Champion San Francisco Giant.

Nostradamus said...

@Dusty

Crap. And I was so looking forward to disliking the guy.

Kyle Baker said...

I hated Jeff Kent because he was a surly malcontent, not because he was a Gnat.

Until JU exhibits either trait, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that he hits 20+ HRs for us and fields like a champ.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I like Uribe. I'm just a little perturbed by the years and the money.

Kyle Baker said...

I know what you mean, MLASC.

People just don't come cheap these days, I guess.

Except Neeebs' old mammy.

spank said...

@Dusty,Wicks and whoever else agrees with them.

I hope you guys are correct about Uribe. You know I want the Dodgers to win. The Gnat hatred runs deep with this one plus the fact of what happened to the last Gnat we signed for three years only fuels my hate more. It may take me a while to get used to this fuck. A long, long while.

SoSG is first when you google 'oyster pubes'

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

We already went over this, EK.

Oyster Pubes.

Just trying to cement it.

Eric Karros said...

Did we? Sorry, missed that.

oyster pubes

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I'm figuring this is the only way Giant fans will know about this blog, so why not?

Oyster Pubes!

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

We're number one for whores if you add Steve Garvey.

No, really.

Kyle Baker said...

Just got back from having oysters for dinner.

Wash your pubes, Timmeh!

Theriot gone?

and that's quite the contract that Tulo signed. Maybe the Yanks can take that on to replace Arod's contract in a couple of years
