The Pirates were here last year, and choked to the Giants, allowing the evil ones to start yet another improbable ascent. This year, you've gotta think about this as which one is going to be a better foil for the Cardinals (Cubs were 8-11 vs. St. Louis this year; Pirates were 9-10). Both teams wield a nice underdog storyline, so I'm on the fence for this one.

So I'm out running errands today in beautiful Hemet (ugh) and of course I'm representing in my Dodgers cap and tank top. This guy says to me (smiling) "You'd look alot better in something that says Giants" Me..."Oh, you from frisco?" Him..."We don't like being called that" Me..."I know"...Him (smiling again) "You know I've been hearing it from all my Dodger friends for years cause you guys had the '70s and '80's. Now it's our turn" Me... (kind of smiling) "Well, maybe in an even year or two". Him..."Hey, you wanna get together sometime?" Me..."Just one thing about with that. I have this friend named Spanky and he's a bit of a 'Dodger Loyalty Mercenary' and if I mixed with a giant fan? Well, he'd kick my butt and have to kill you. So you see the problem".
Seemed to work sufficiently. I may use it again.

We were 4-3 vs. the Cubs, 1-5 vs. the Pierats, and 2-5 vs. the Shards. So I'll root for the Cubs tonight, hoping we meet them in the NLCS.
