Game 102 Thread: July 29 vs. A's, 7p

EVERYTHING IS FINE.

Mike Bolsinger (5-3, 2.79) vs. Jesse Chavez (5-10, 3.45)

It's a been a weird day and half for the Dodgers. They got utterly shut down by Sonny Gray last night (bad, but somewhat understandable). Then, this morning Dodger fans were greeted with the news that Clayton Kershaw was suffering from some sort of hip (or possibly butt, leading to good Twitter jokes) pain and may not make his start tonight. This turns out to be the case as, just prior to this writing, Kershaw was officially scratched and Bolsinger starts tonight. (Kershaw supposedly starts Friday.)

There was also the little matter of the Dodgers trading for Mat Latos and Mike Morse from the Marlins...until they didn't. The deal is currently in limbo over "medicals." Many fans are freaking out, thinking this will be the lone move Friedman and Co. will make before Friday's deadline. Of course, that was before the Tigers announced this afternoon that David Price is officially on the block. We'll keep you posted with all that.

Oh, and the Giants are about to beat the Brewers and move into a tie for first place in the NL West.

What booze pairs best with abject panic?

Are we getting Price? Or holding on to our Johnson?

karen said...

Paul...I'm holding for Price...

Greg said...

Puig looked like he actually tried to control his swing instead of coming out of his shoes.

Paul said...

Puig gives me the sads.

Alex Cora said...

Just saw Bolsinger go over to the end of the dugout to shake the hand of the military hero of the game. Bolsinger. Our starting pitcher. Fing stud.

karen said...

Bolsinger seems like a cool guy. To take the time to shake that guys hand, especially on a night when he's pitching.

karen said...

So much for the lead off triple...

Greg said...

The old suicide squeeze.

MR.F said...

Puig!!

spank said...

wtf? puig homers in ethier and they both account for all three runs so far by the Dodgers? i must be a psychic...or a psycho.

Okay Spank...I went back to read yesterdays thread and caught up on all kinds of stuff that I missed after I bailed last night!

Vinny announcing Hamels going to the Rangers...

spank said...

karen said...

Now that's the difference between you and me, Spank...I watch Moneyball and dream of the beautifully sexy and talented Bradly Pitt.

spank said...

i think the Dodgers can do some major damage in the playoffs with a rotation of Greinke,Kershaw and Chili Cheese Fries.

Orel said...

I'm around, kind of.

Orel said...

Shit, 6-3 now?

karen said...

Yes and you're stuck here, kind of...

karen said...

Oh geez...the bullpen gets 2 chances to blow it

Greg said...

That was a very loud inning here at the ballyard.

In more ways than one.

spank said...

holy shit! was that Chris Farley?

karen said...

Greg...It always surprises me how loud it is when you're there, TV doesn't do it justice.

Orel said...

Looking forward to a flawless 9th from Kenley

Greg said...

The loudest I've ever heard this pace was when Uribe hit the game-winning home run in game 4 of the NLCS in 2013.

karen said...

Nice to see the other teams bullpen imploding for a change

karen said...

Greg...It seems to me that DS has gotten louder in the last several years. Back in the day it would get loud but nowadays the stadium actually rocks

karen said...

Kenley Time...

Greg said...

Yes it does!

karen said...

...and East Coasters say Dodger fans have no passion!!!

Orel said...

Ken Gurnick ‏@kengurnick 19s

Zach Lee is throwing in the Dodgers bullpen. Really. Probably his between-starts bullpen session.

karen said...

K...

karen said...

Orel...gotta be. Even Donnie's not that stupid...

I hope.

Orel said...

I'm still looking forward to that flawless 9th from Kenley

karen said...

NOT TONIGHT OREL!

Orel said...

I'll take it!

All this trade talk is confusing.

RIP Leslie Neilsen

Fred's Brim said...

Oh my, is Karina sweating at the (unlikely) possibility of seeing Bronson Arroyo in a Dodger uniform?

karen said...

I watched Game 1 of the 1988 World Series on Timeless Dodgers today...Every one of us knows how that game ends but what I had forgotten was seeing Tim Crews and Mike Sharperson celebrating with the team after Gibby's HR. Two young men who passed way to young.

RIP Leslie Nielson...You always made me laugh...

rbnlaw said...

Can someone explain how we ended up with another canyon in the greater LA area? I've never even seen the Bronson Arroyo.

Hideo Nomo said...

Isn't that where Bronson Caves are?

Fred's Brim said...

Or is this Bronson, Missouri? I always liked Yakov Smirnoff

karen said...

Bronson...Branson...isn't it all the same thing???

Fred's Brim said...

Broxton to Cards?

rbnlaw said...

I'm voting the Bronson/Broxton ticket in 2016

rbnlaw said...

And, FB, isn't Broxton a neighborhood in Brooklyn? Near Bed/Sty?
