It's all about the mcrib, i've made several pilgrimages to mcd's since its return to pray at the altar of the mcrib.
I was unaware of the "McRib" nickname for Jay Gibbons.
I'm glad we all have our priorities straight.
The McRib is actually sort of terrifying.
I loved the McRib as a kid, but I never bought into the "OMG IT'S BACK!" nonsense that pops up every few years.
I did try one again yesterday. It was meh.
To Mr. C's point: The McRib Deconstructed
I was discussing the McRib with FB the other day.
With the shitty all white meat chicken mcnuggets, the craptacular baked apple pie, the mcrib is a nice nod to when mcdonald's was worth a damn. So now whenever the mcrib comes back, that's like the only time i would ever even contemplate going to mcdonald's.
I highly enjoy the grilled ranch BLT.
Honestly, I don't think I've been inside a McD's for at least 10 years. Probably have hit a couple of drive-thrus once in a blue moon.
@Mr. LA Sports Czar - hmm, I might have to give that bad boy a try.
@Mr. C - well, here locally there are just so many better choices, even though people have been saying that In'N'Out's quality has been sliding (I semi agree), they're still a better bet than McD not to mention the plethora of smaller local joints or even Fatburger.
I've pretty much stopped eating hamburgers from most places but In-N-Out and the Habit. After those two, nothing else can compare.
@Greg
Nothing controversial there. If I'm in the drive thru, it's usually out in the middle of nowhere, to prove the point.
In my opinion, it depends on location with In'N'Out. They're not all created equal.
Good point re: in'n'out, guess I'm lucky because I live in Irvine and I go to the one in the marketplace (UCI) which is where all the corporate guys (INO corp office is in the same shopping centre) so I've never had quality issues!
Speaking of burgers, a friend tells me that the burger at umami is to die for. Personally, I like Father's Office's burger just fine, not to mention the fine beer selection.
@Greg
Father's Office...that's for damn sure. I also enjoy watching people get berated for trying to substitute. The one on Montana, or Culver?
mr c - I love both! But I prefer montana because it's much smaller and more intimate, that said, I go to the culver city one more simply because montana is often quite crowded and it's closer to my CC friends.
Indeed. Montana is preferred, but Thursday through Saturday is impossible there.
McDonald's is best for breakfast. After that, it's catch as catch can.
Scotty Pods; we hardly knew ye.
After talking about it with MLASC, I had my first McRib on Tuesday. I had the day off because of election day and was out and about. It was lunchtime and was actually on my way to another porky sandwich place, but decided to pop my McRib cherry. And it was pretty ok! Not bad, not great. I probably wont get it again, but if I was hungry and somebody said, "I got an extra McRib, want it?" I would probably say yes.
And about an hour later, I went to the other place to get this. It's a $10 sandwich, but it's worth every penny
and Scotty Pods is a $10 outfielder but is worth about $9.52
FB, that sandwich should have "Fuck the McRib" engraved in the roll.
Any joint with a picture of a pig on its menu is o.k. in my book.
The McRib doesn't quite appeal to me the way it did when I was a kid. To be honest, if it weren't for the nutritional value I'd probably stop eating them altogether.
Porchetta is awesome by the way. The photo of the sandwich doesn't do it justice.
If McDonald's had done this 6 months ago, the Dodgers would have had to seek a "McRib restraining order" on Ronnie Belliard.
Truedat, SteveK. I love him for his hit vs the Cards in 2009, but I won't miss him at all
