Game 74 Thread: June 22 vs. Nationals, 7p

Julio Urias (0-2, 4.50) vs. Joe Ross (6-4, 3.13)

The Dodgers have won five in a row! You might say it's a HIGH five. And speaking of high fives, the Dodgers are celebrating the co-inventor of the high five with a Dusty Baker bobblehead. So, break out your toothpicks and grab yourself a little Dusty. Not our Dusty. Though, he's open to you grabbing him too.

I will be at the game tonight (thanks to our Dusty...I'm saving a bobblehead for him), hoping to see Julio Urias get his first win. Beat the bobblemanager for the kid, Dodgers!

They're showing a DOPE Dusty mini-doc. I hope it ends up online.

never seen a ball backspin off the top of the outfield wall like that one hit by Espinosa.

2-1 Nats, B2

unfortunately, giants came back to win vs. pit

Steve Sax said...

Urias couldn't get that third out in the second inning, which sucks.

Three quick outs for the Dodgers in B2.

2-1 WAS, end 2

2-2 on the Seager HR, but Dodgers still looking like they're wasting rallies after Puig Ks weakly to end the fourth (with men at the corners).

Excited that Grandal seems to be awakening.

Bummed out at that missed foul out attempt between third and home; Turner and Grandal still don't seem like they're on the same page. Someone get those two a dinner date so they can work out their issues.

2-2, end 5

Grandal throws out the runner but he's called safe? It's a close one

Dodgers challenge...

Steve Sax said...

Call overturned, he's OUT!

Casey Fien having some trouble here. One out, and men on first and second.

Steve Sax said...

0-2 count here..gets the K on the foul tip! Two out. Come on, Fien.

Steve Sax said...

Fien escapes which is great.

Grandal gets on first to leadoff B7. Puig is now up there hacking like a madman.

2-2 count to Yasiel

Steve Sax said...

Puig singles! nice job, Yasiel--didn't rush it, stayed calm through a breaking ball and rotated to pull it to Werth in LF.

First and second, none out. SVS in to PR for Yasiel. Here's Ellis with the assumed sac bunt

Steve Sax said...

BEAUTIFUL sac bunt. Way to go A J

Very cool little LA vignette there, with Vin Scully's audio, on the ESPN broadcast.

Steve Sax said...

Whoops, 2-2, still top 8. Baez in with two out

spank said...

Steve Sax said...

I am so fucking done with Baez.

Steve Sax said...

Baez gives up the tater. 3-2, now B8

spank said...

bottom of 9th. 3-2 Nats. Pederson Puig and pitchers spot due up.

spank said...

my bad Kendrick bats aand singles. now Puig is up with one out

spank said...

holy fucking shit!

Cliff Beefpile said...

Holy shit! That was awesome!

spank said...

Puig singleas up the middle. the Nats centerfielder doesnt come up with the ball and Puig runs around the bases and scores. wild shit man

spank said...

6 in a row baby!

Cliff Beefpile said...

I know Puig is fast, but shit, how did that happen? I mean, Werth was in the deepest part of the park, and going the opposite direction from the throw, but did he hit the cutoff man?

Steve Sax said...

holy smokes. Puig ran right through the stop sign and he was damn right. Can't find a video angle of the relay--what happened?! Vin said there was a double-clutch?!

Steve Sax said...

SWEEEEEEEEP

spank said...

Werth had to run a bit to get the ball and he had nothing on the throw. by the time the cut off man caught the ball that was a wrap. Puig was almost home and was about to Superman dive his way to home plate.
