Scott Kazmir (0-0, -.--) vs. James Shields (0-0, -.--)
A 15-0 thumping is wonderful, of course, but maybe the Dodgers should have saved some of those runs for tonight's debut of Scott Kazmir. Kazmir, the formerly great, then dreadful, then pretty good, then kinda not so great in Spring Training lefty, may be swinging back to good again. But he's the first of four guys not named Kershaw, so we're all holding our collective breath.
So, if Kazmir is a heavy sweater and starts to unravel, here's hoping the offense picks up the thread.

I have been rereading Jon Weisman's 2009 book '100 Things Dodgers Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die'. Number 1 in the book is Jackie and number 2 is Vin. I think Weisman eloquently said what so many of us feel: ...to tell you that his voice is a cozy quilt on a cold morning, a cool breeze on a blistering day; that he's more than someone you listen to, that he's someone you feel. ...when Vin Scully strings words together...they'll carry you away on wings. If it weren't so satisfying, it could make you weep.
This man's voice has been the tapestry that has been woven through my life. He teachs us, humbles us and speaks to us like he is a favorite uncle all the while calling the game without missing a beat. I am already feeling his loss to us. With all my heart I can say that in my life he stands second as one of my favorite men coming only after my most beloved father.
Thank you Vin from all of us who fell asleep with a transistor radio pressed against our ear and all of the generations who followed. You are a National Treasure. Our National Treasure.
Ola
so according to Mr. Weisman we're all supposed to do Vinny before we die?
Only you would get that outta Weisman's title Spankster!!!!
love them uniforms Madres. keep them.
Chutley.
Jon Weisman has a book?
that was pretty horrible fellas. Puig and Pederson need to communicate better in the outfield. lucky Joc caught the ball.
Saxy...do you have a light in your Turkish cell?? Cause it's a great read!
Yasiel working on his inner Charlie Hustle
Joc strikeout. so whats new
Top 1: Seager with a one-out single, but Turner GIDP.
Bottom 1, one out, one on
wait, i'm way behind here on this feed
0-0 through 2
Padres announcers still crying over Chutley's slide yesterday. get over it losers.
fusilli Jerry!
And I thought our first Seinfeld referral would be something about Cashmeeere...
0-0 through 3
kemped...
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Georgy Porgy
a-Gon with a gift double thanks to a bad route by the Padres CF (Jon Jay)
Patience Yasiel...
COme on, Puig
Puig getting squeezed with two straight called low strikes
horrible centerfielder for the Padres. i love it!
PWWWEEEGGGG! 2-0 Boys!!
PUIG! Another fly ball to Jay, who looks clueless out there on his routes--2-RBI double
Make that a triple
Here's Carl Crawford, to somehow find a way to GIDP with a man on third
I stand corrected! 3-0 LA
3-0 Dodgers. Crawdude rbi single
Orel's commentating on Crawford's single (on a drawn-in infield): "it's not pretty, but it's effective"
3-0 LA
Jokk
Two hits with RISP in one inning? What team is this?
3-0 LA through 3.5
Kazmir with a called K on Spangenberg!
Kazmir with two Ks
Kemp looking like Questlove
WOW!!
11 straight retired for Kazmir
3-0 through 4
Shift kills Utley. One down in the 5th.
The Rook is 3 for 3!!!!
Seager 3 for 3 and takes second on Kemp.
Seager's on fire. nice hustle holmes.
Kashnir getting it done all blue collar like.
Kazmir is looking good tonight.
Kings win! Two much-needed points. Let's finish off a perfect night,Dodgers.
I was flipping to that game too Cliff.
Did Chutley spike someone, or are they still whining about the slide from yesterday?
17 batters in a row put down by Kazmir.
Awwwww....The Player Formerly Known As Sponge Worthy went 4 giving up 7 runs on 9 hits in his douche bag debut.
Karma baby.
well at least Jokk hit the ball this time.
(cries)
Kazmir is done for the night. Kike will PH for him.
The Padres doing their best impression of the Dodgers 2013 defense.
Utley now 0-for-4 today. He's clearly tired from all that activity yesterday.
@karen 8:50p: I'm still conflicted on Greinke's departure. I'm sad he's not a Dodger, but front office clearly didn't want to give him the $ and/or years. And I don't blame him for chasing the coin (seriously, if you have to wear those sublimated snakeskin uniforms, you deserve some recompense for that purgatory).
But I'm with you, that was a shockingly bad debut for Zack.
Why does A-Gon keep making the "Timeout" hand gesture?
@Sax AGon must still be hoping North Carolina can pull off the National Championship, he's trying to goad Villanova into pulling a Chris Weber.
Saxy...I know you are right, I'm just incredibly bitter.
ESPN.com headline: Utley slide rule gives Rays win over Jays (http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=360405130)
When you look at the replay, and how the baserunner tries to grab the foot of the 2B, it's not really an Utley collision. Just a stupid interference attempt (and correct call).
Angels getting curbstomped again by the Cubbies again, but I guess that's gonna happen to a lot of teams this season.
@Cliff, nice. good to see you my man
@karen: I'm aligned with you on bitterness, definitely
Baez with 2 Ks
Angels at least scored however so the Cubs have allowed a run.
This leaves the Dodgers as the only team to have not yet allowed a run against this year (I know I'm jinxing it, but still)
Dusty finally up in dis bish after a long day!
had the game on but still was working. (cries)
3-0 LA, through 7
Going back a bit, but how clueless did Jay look on that play in left? Hate that asshole. Because he had a stupid name that references early American history and because he was once a Cardinal.
Kings beat the #26 team in OT. Yeah Kings.
MLB GameDay has Petco Park with a big "THE SHOW" letters above the batter's eye. That just looks...weird.
They just cut to a shot of the set of "access dodgers", or whatever the hell the post-game show is. one guy is writing notes, one guy is fixing his cufflinks, and I think Ned Colletti is sitting there like the cat that ate the canary. What kind of programming is this?
@Dusty: where have you been, my man?
Hatcher with two quick Ks of his own. two out in the eighth
3-0 through 8 innings
Tonight's campaign has left me something akin to speechless.
That, like never happens.
Did you guys know that the MLB Fan Cave is no more? Wow.
(Original) Orel plugging Time Warner. I luv ya dude but I could've gone all year without the brown nosin'.
We make more shutout party!!!!
Back to back shutout parties!
win!
noice
Kenley! We win! Commence party-making.
