Zack Greinke (5-1, 1.97) vs. Lance Lynn (4-4, 3.03).
Pressure! A national TV audience is set to watch the best two teams in the National League tonight, with our Greinke going against a guy named Lance. We haven't seen Lancelot; he's 3-1 in five starts career vs. the Dodgers. But Lynn has helped solidify the Cardinals' starting rotation ever since the Cardinals lost Adam Gawain-wright earlier this season, after he tore his achilles Tristan awkwardly trying to run from the batter's box.
On our side, we've been struggling offensively, but last night's return of Yasiel Puig sparked the team to victory. Gaheris our chance to get the season back on the rails.
The mlb.com preview indicates that the Dodgers haven't lost a home series since August 15-17, 2014. So we're hoping for a win tonight and a series split--Geraint nothin' like a win on Sunday Night Baseball to shake off the doldrums of the past couple of weeks.
Strangely, after Arthuring this GT, I'm feeling an urge for pizza tonight.

Lineup done in between mpq rounds from an iphone
Man we really miss Kendrick.
And can we bat Rollins 10th? Designated Sitter, perhaps?
Rollins should be hitting 9th. Greinke has way more pop in his bat than JRO
Must obtain W today. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts...
Of course, MLB.com is calling today's feed a STL game (the only option) rather than a LAD game.
#EastCoastishBias
i'm surprised Dre hasn't complained about moving to left field. he will soon.
Already a comment about the shadows, in the first minute
Greinke with a nice play to get Wong there
Called strike 3 on Carpenter. Two out
Since when did ESPN's in-game graphics change to Jony Ive, Apple-like design?
Sponge Worthy living up to his name in the 1st.
Holiday grounds out to third.
0-0 through 0.5 Innings
Dodgers starting lineup brought to you by Taco Bell
Called K to Joc. One out
Base hit for Puig! One out
AGon chases one outside. 2 out
Man, it is so good to have him back. 1-0 Good Guys
turner RBI! Puig scores from first, but a little bit slow coming up. Please be ok Yasiel!
1-0 LA
Who is calling this game for ESPN? Lots of very high-pitched voices.
Ethier called K
1-0 through 1
You would think that Dodger Stadium is the only park with shadows.
peralta K. One out
@karen: seriously. It's not like ESPN didn't call this 5p game start or anything, either
Saxy...John Kruk and I don't know who else.
Heyward grounds to third, two out
Saxy...Mark Mulder I think is in there too.
Clay looking like a rock star.
@Sax: Kruk and Olney for sure, I don't know who the other two are.
And now they're bagging on Kershaw's postseason record vs STL. Inevitable
Reynolds raps one to left for a single
Jay K for the third out
Starting tomorrow night, I'll be getting my Dodger games legit; I caved and am getting TWC. Those bastards. This is my last grainy bootleg Dodger game.
/pours one out for the memories
I am getting the same commercials EVERY break between innings, on MLB.tv. Come on guys. State Farm hans and Franz is so dated!
"I know the sabermetricians aren't big on wins, but there's something about winning games that means a lot." #analysis Thanks ESPN.
Karl Ravech, Mulder, and Kruk in the booth. Kruk not wearing a tie.
Kruk ate his tie.
Hernandez grounds for the second out
Rollins with a weakass fly ball to center. Jay has time to backpedal, clip his fingernails, and still catch it.
Rollins is a disaster from the plate. When is he going to open up?!
1-0 through 2
Beautiful. Zack gets out of it.
GreinKe gets out of it.
Shit, did that lady get hit in the stomach by that foul ball? After what happened at Fenway, that kinda freaked me out.
Greinke with a two-strike, lead off single!
Stop chasing outside, Joc
And, Joc lets one go by outside. He is listening to me!!!
@CliffB...I couldn't tell but I thought about the Fenway lady immediately, too.
Pederson flies to left for the first out
Ok so Puig singles to put men on first and second for AGon
Come on Adrian
Lynn pitching around AGon, 3-1 count
Dammit, Adrian lines out to left for the second out
Turner with the RBI! 2-0 Blue!
Turner's rebellion! 2-0 LA
At least we are making Lynn throw a lot of pitches. 66 pitches in the third
Ethier Ks yet again.
2-0 LA through 3
New commercials at the inning break! Thank the gods
"Greinke getting the calls that Lynn isn't." Welcome to what we're used to, Kruk, you dipshit!
Wondering if I should ask my doctor about Viagra...
Greinke is bringing the lather tonight
@DBT...Don't forget to ask if your heart is strong enough first!!
Kendrick is supposed to be back Monday
^Karen haha, you're right safety first!
@karen: all dodger fans have strong hearts
And livers
Good news on Kendrick, cuz Kike ain't kutting it
Greinke dug deep for that one. Reynolds sits.
You guys are cracking me up.
So nice watching the Blue Crew in the comfort of my own home, sipping a cold Sierra Nevada. Just the way the good Lord demands.
Lead off double but Greinke hangs tough and gets out of it
@Dusty..I am so jazzed that you guys got Charter.
Geez, Hernandez looked awful on that K. Send him back to triple A
Lance Lynn getting some serious therapy from the ESPN booth guys. I expect him to be on a fucking psychiatric office couch at this stage, he way he is being analyzed
That was a shitty bottom half of the inning!
That's the sad part Saxy, he is trying! that's all he's got left in the tank!
They sounded like his parents, they were so worried about him.
Oh, and hi err'body!
Buster Olney's dugout interviews are horrible.
Lead off single to Cruz
Lance Lynn sac, so man on second and one out for the top of the order
Wong sacs Cruz to third. Two out
Lynn left the dugout with the trainer. ESPN doofuses were onto something.
Next up... Lagunitas IPA
Wait, no, he's back on the mound.
Carpenter Ks for the third out. 2-0, mid-5
You guys are making me jealous. It's not beer o'clock where I am
Greinke comes up with hit number two!
Dammit, my feed is now like over a minute slow. Let me reboot
Love the Greinke bat flip
Joc with the patented Beefpile try-too-hard softball swing on that whiff. Similar result.
Lynn walks Pederson and of course ESPN says "lance Lynn not getting any close pitches called tonight". Oh sure, Lynn is the oppressed one.
Puig showing good patience on the second pitch, but Puig fails to connect on the next one.
Two on, one out for AGon
Fucking A, AGon quickly flies to left. What the hell
We gotta score here.
Goddammit, the big bats fail to drive in a run with 2 on and nobody out.
And we do NOT score here.
Horrible ABs there for AGon and Turner, swinging early on a pitcher who is clearly struggling. Come on, mcGwire
2-0 through 5
Oh shit. 2-1 after a Peralta solo shot with one out in the sixth.
Mitch Harris now in for the Cardinals, to K Ethier
And Ethier...draws a walk and proves me wrong.
Good job Andre
Booth now drooling all over Matt Carpenter
Grandad gave it a ride, but flied out to center
Christ, here we go. The Cardinals are a bunch of the grittiest gritters gritting in baseball! They have former players coaching their minor leaguers. That's innovation and the right way to do it, I tell ya!
Ethier just stole a base?! What?!
The Cardinals are so super gritty it's like they have the ghost of David eckstein powering them
Hernandez, swinging at a shitty pitch out of the zone instead of taking the walk
Cardinals are pitching to Rollins because they know he sucks
Rollins has a 2-0 count and Rollins swings for, and fouls, a shitty pitch
Ethier still slow, tagged out at home...beaten by a mile.
Rollins with a single, but heyward guns down Ethier at home
God Ethier is slow. It's like Eric Karros
I had to step out for a minute so I have (1) question and (1) comment...How did red turds get a run? and I can't believe they are still yammering on like this is a red turd telecast.
...and Dre thrown out at he plate. Anyone got Spank's bail money?
@Saxy...I just had a visual memory of EK running. Thanks, I needed good laugh.
The Dodgers are at bat, but really we're just killing time between the Cardinals gritting their way to one run in 16 innings. They haven't scored, but damn if they haven't scored runs the right way.
Christ, that was four inches off the plate. You were saying about the Cardinals not getting strike calls!?
Uh oh. Walk to lead off hitter.
This is shaping up like another crushing defeat
And we are down 3-2. I give up.
@Orel...You'd think we'd be used to this by now.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
should have gone with the Lancelot Link GT
and Karl Ravech can go to hell
Game day showing Cards are getting cheap strike calls here
Karl Ravech has a bad hairpiece
Really good game for AGon to not show up. 0-for-4
maybe it's the vodka but I can't express how frustrated I am right now
I can't stand losing to the Gnats of the Central. Or the Gnats
I feel like we are a bunch of clowns losing to them. Maybe we are are, 2.5 real starters, shitty bullpen except for Kenley, 3 or 4 real hitters in our lineup.
The Cards have 2-3 real hitters in their lineup but they have pitching top to bottom to cover it up. I don't get it anymore
Ethier, 0-for-3 with 3 Ks. Comeback player of the year?!
SOSG staffers, when Jhohnnhy Peralta gets nailed for PEDs, will you dedicate a post to me?
@FB: To be fair, the booze is pretty much always talking here at SOSG
Every post is dedicated to you, FB. But yes.
LeBron beats the Warriors 95-93 in OT.
we are a bunch of clowns
The Cardinals are standing against the railing the right way, guys! We have no chance! No really, Rollins is up, we have no chance.
thanks Orel, that makes me feel better
"Greinke was good, but not good enough..." He was pretty goddamn good. He was winning 2-1 when he left in the 7th, I'd say that's good enough. He didn't labor through 5 with a phantom injury like Lynn, but I guess he's just not gritty enough. Fuck ESPN.
