Got Fizzz? Erin Does!

Or will soon...yep, for her victory in SoSG March Madness, Erin will be receiving nothing less than a 4-pack of the beverage to which she owes her victory: Mauby Fizzz!

It wasn't easy to procure. Of course I first went to my regular Trinidadian soda guy, but he couldn't come up with the goods. I then went to a few Caribbean restaurants and grocers in the general area, with no luck. But all's well that ends well, and this one ended with me shipping home a small bagful of the Fizzz from a not-so-local Trinidadian supplier after buying out their on-hand inventory (thanks to the good folks at Uncommon Caribbean for giving me the lead that finally came through).

So congratulations once again Erin. The above foursome of Mauby Fizzz should arrive in the next couple weeks. You can do with it what you wish: drink it all immediately, share with those who tolerated your obsession with your march to victory, hoard for yourself, or resell for street value.

But, if and when you do try a bottle, we invite you to send us a piece about how the experience changed your life, energized your soul, reset your priorities, etc. Because although I got a bottle for myself, I haven't yet gathered the courage to try it myself.

A true Cinderella Story: literally the last one in the tournament, Erin has vindicated the selection committee by not only winning SoSG March Madness, but doing so in dominating fashion. Whether commenting as herself, Jimbo, or Katie, Erin's slow-fingered trail of vanquished foes included, in order: MLASC, Mr F, FB, Dusto M, and Dr Geek*.

*Just for the record, in the Jimbo-laden Final Round, her 1st half comment was at 8:44am to Dr Geek's 8:46am, and in the 2nd half she beat The Geek 2:03pm to 2:11pm.

SoSG March Madness 2011

Ok folks, here's the updated bracket. Still 4 spots remaining - if anyone still wants to sign up, we'll accept until 5pm PT today. But no later, as the #1 seeds need to know if they have a 1st round bye or not.

SoSG March Madness 2011: Foreign Soft Drink Edition!

As you can see from the above bracket, there are still nine slots open. So sign up, dammit! You don't want guys like Loney Fan, Jason, and Mr C getting a free ride into round 2, do you?

The rules are the same in previous years, and Round 1 kicks off sometime this Wednesday through Friday. So you'll have all of today and tomorrow to kick back, grab a burrito, and crack open a can of Junkanoo (or maybe Skinka, depending on your food pairing preferences). And if we get any additional entrants today, the final initial bracket will be posted tomorrow before the games begin.
