Nute Gunray, right?

I'm beginning to question the wisdom of this whole Star Wars/Lego partnership at this point.

Josh S. said...

I think that's Nute Gingrich.

Steve Sax said...

Did you know Lego sells more Star Wars shit than Hasbro (action figures, light sabers, etc)?

MR.F said...

That's a Star Wars character?

Steve Sax said...

Clearly not original trilogy...

Dusty Baker said...

Those little characters' hands look like they are molded to be able to hold a beer.

Steve Sax said...

@Dusty, that is awesome.

Did you see the PBR Bowl video on Deadspin?

Dusty Baker said...

Nope, I didn't. I only read this website. Hey, I heard the Soviet Union had fallen. Is this true?

MR.F said...

Oh, I guess he looks familiar.

In other news, I'm reading a Star Wars novel. What a nerd.

Steve Sax said...

So I just had that conversation with my kids, that there are some decent Star Wars fiction books worth reading. With which should I start?

Splinter of the Mind's Eye? Han Solo at Stars' End?

Dusty Baker said...

I am at the same time ashamed and impressed by the last two comments.

My experience with the expanded universe began and ended with the Thrawn novels. It seemed...unnatural.

Steve Sax said...

I snagged me a set of POTF2 Expanded Universe Figures off the shelf at a Target back in the day. Kyle Katarn, Thrawn, Mara Jade. I never saw them on shelf again, so I felt pretty lucky at the time...

Dusty Baker said...

President Of The Flubber 2? What the hell is that?

Alex Cora said...

That's the dude with the really bad Asian accent. Man I cringe when I hear that dude and JarJar's voice.

Josh S. said...

Power of the Force 2. Also known as the muscle bound Star Wars figures.

Nostradamus said...

What the hell is that on his shirt? It looks like something out of Neimoidian Hustler, quite frankly.

MR.F said...

I'm actually reading the Thrawn novels. I read the first book as a kid and never got to the other ones, so I'm getting through those now.

Dusty Baker said...

@Mr F

As an adult, right?;-)

Fernie V said...

Mr lasc when in phoenix where should I eat at.

Nostradamus said...

@Mr. F

I didn't feel that they were too bad, though maybe slightly juvenile (people say that about me all the time). When it became clear that it was going in full-on enless franchise mode after those, I got less interested.

Nostradamus said...

In general, anything supposedly following RoTJ was going to have the unenviable task of injecting some sort of gray morality into a world that was black-and-white by design.

Dusty Baker said...

Sorry to interrupt you nerds, but I was just wondering what ever happened to that weird puzzle card thingy from last week. Never heard anything else about it.

Is Delino starting a Mets blog?

MR.F said...

Endless franchise mode?

Dusty Baker said...

#BreastMode

Nostradamus said...

@Mr. F

Meaning it takes on a kind of chain fiction quality. Too many authors and ideas to be reasonably coherent. It works in comics because they're understood to mostly stand alone, until someone else comes along and ret-cons the whole business, but I'm not wild about it elsewhere.

Nostradamus said...

@db

Shall we begin a new round of recriminations?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

@Fernie V - Great little place in Downtown Phoenix called Matt's Big Breakfast.

Fred's Brim said...

@MLASC - is that a dude named Matt who lives under the I-10 overpass? That breakfast's not for everyone...

Somebody had to break up this nerd-o-rama

Dusty Baker said...

I'm going to try to throw around the phrase "Dusty's Big Breakfast" more often.

@ Dusty re: DBB

Is there a buffet?

karina said...

Mara jade should have her own books.

Fernie V said...

Yeah Spank, all the sausage you can eat. DBB Sausage, never tried it seen it at the store next to Earl Campbell Hot Links.

Fernie V said...

DBB sausage, the other white meat.
