Things were rolling against the Giants earlier this week with two good wins, however the series unfortunately culminated in our meek 4-1 loss last night, with plenty of wasted opportunities throughout. Blame the bottom five in the lineup again: Max Muncy, Teoscar Hernandez, Gavin Lux, Andy Pages, and James (Automatic) Outman, who went a combined 0-for-18 with 7 Ks, to thoroughly squash any potential rally we tried to muster.
The healthy division lead gives us time to figure out who else outside the Big Four is going to hit. I had high hopes for Muncy and Lux, both of whom have picked up their defensive play, but Muncy has fallen back to a .223 BA / .798 OPS (still an OPS+ of 125, shockingly) and Lux a .194 BA / .525 OPS (OPS+ 50). And then there's Automatic Outman, batting .151 with an OPS of .530 (OPS+ 51).
I'm excited to go to the Stadium tonight and pick up the Shohei Ohtani bobblehead. And I've got an outside shot at going to the Sunday game, featuring Notre Dame Sherman Oaks High School's Hunter Greene.

Edwin Sheehan out for the season with the dreaded elbow injury
Barnes?! Taylor?! Kike?!
Why are we playing the B team tonight?!

Lebron would have needed to be carried off the field if he got hit like Ohtani just did by the ball.

Sorry I've been out of action. I was so surprised to have seen one of Chris Taylor's five hits this season (in Thursday's game), that I lost track of time.

This lineup is nuts. No Mookie, and Vargas gets thrown in there (and Lux batting sixth?!).
@Saxy...Agreed. This lineup is a little bit weird.
Mookie day off. word is he's been grumbling about getting worn out playing shortstop.
you rather have Taylor playing instead of Vargas? fuck that. let the kid play.
who's ump? Angel Hernandez? the strikezone is wack
Several bad calls tonight
Walker is looking more 'Buehlerish' so far. (Knocking on wood to stave off the jinx)
Buehler is back....with a little help from the ump there.
you know the Dodgers announcers are kind of snobbish. maybe thats why i dont like them.
weak sauce 8,9 and 1
Unbelievable that he called that a strike on Freddie
A HIT AND A RUN!!
Pages singles in Frederic
Nobody hurt but our baby Dodgers need to communicate a little better
fuck. Vargas fucked up. Pages called it
3-0 Dodgers after 5

im glad we're playing the Reds with this lineup. wow
Luxy has a guy on second with one out in the second inning…
Greene is throwing gas to try and strike out Lux. 3-2 count
Lux gives it a ride but it’s a fly out. Teoscar to third. Heyward up
And, Heyward strands Teo.
0-0 through 2
Pages!!
2-1 LA through six full
Yarbrough with a leadoff walk in the seventh. Not good, in a one-run game!
Bunt on the first base side, Lux was late to getting over to cover first, and then Yarbrough throws the ball into right field. What the fuck, guys?
Second and third with none out.
and that's the price you pay for starting 6 utility players in your lineup. your defense sucks
Yarbrough gets Espinal to foul out to first, for the first out.
IBB PH Stephenson. Bases loaded for the Reds, one out.
Vesia replaces Yarbrough.
Long AB to Spencer Steer, but Steer wins it, Vesia walks in the tying run. 2-2.
lame
Vesia gets Elly De La Cruz to K on three pitches!
And then Vesia gets Ford for the third out.
Not a perfect relief outing, but great job by Alex Vesia nonetheless!
Heyward with a leadoff single, and then he takes second even with the Kiké K.
Hunter Greene is finally lifted, good outing of 6.1 IP and 105 pitches, 8 Ks and 2 BB. Dodgers now see Fernando Cruz.
Barnes Ks on three pitches. That was fast.
That third pitch was nowhere near the strike zone.
Dammit, Mookie can't convert the run.
2-2 through 7 full
Vesia pitches a great eighth, 1-2-3.
2-2
Ohtani reaches, but Freeman GIDPs. Ugh
Teoscar with a two-out single. Here's Andy Pages.
Teoscar caught stealing second. Dammit.
Tyler Stephenson gets a two-out flare single to right field. And Now Jacob Hurtubise (who entered as a pinch runner) singles to center in his first AB today.
Two on, two out. Come on, Blake!
Wild pitch puts two RISP
Treinen gets De La Cruz to K for the fourth time today!
2-2, going to the bottom of the ninth!
Dodgers in the ninth:
5 Pages
6 Lux
7 Heyward
Pages with a quick fly out to center. One out.
EK remarking that the Stadium is still pretty crowded. He's right! It's cool to see.
Lux pops to second. Ugh.
Lux had a 2-0 count and popped out to the infield. Come on, Gavin!
Reds pitcher Pagán lifted mid-AB due to an injury. So here's Alexis Díaz, continuing the AB on Heyward.
Heyward rung up on a bad strike 3 call.
We go to extras.
horrible strike call.
Stephen Nelson could not hold back his disgust on that called strike 3 to Heyward. Horrible call.
Anthony Banda with a great 10th! With De La Cruz starting on second, Banda gets the Reds 1-2-3.
Kike bunt popups on the first pitch. What the hell?
Slappy with a PH appearance.
Slappy walks. Here's Mookie.
Mookie flies out. So here's Ohtani, two on, two out, B10
OHTANI!!!
WIN
Shohei!!!
Love Stephen Nelson's voice cracking at the end there! Hilarious
PGT up!
