Series Thread (Games 49-51): May 26-28 vs. Cubs

Hey, remember the Baseball World Heavyweight Title? My little nerdy pet project had fallen by the wayside for well over a year, until I randomly decided to check on it recently. Shortly after I picked up the thread on Twitter, the Dodgers won the belt ("IT'S NOT A BELT! IT'S A CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, DAMMIT!" - Vince McMahon). Sadly, they immediately dropped it to the Giants. Forgoing any chicanery I've perpetuated in the past, I decided to stick to the rules in tracking title changes this year, and see what legitimate chance the Dodgers had of retaking the title.

Thankfully, the schedule worked in our favor, and the Cubs managed to wrest the belt from the Giants just before arriving at Dodger Stadium this weekend. So, not only do we have an (*exasperated sigh*) NLCS rematch, but THE GOLD IS ON THE LINE as well.

Let's face it, the Cards have been a huge thorn in the Dodgers' side the past few years. I'm not convinced this year's Dodgers squad is championship material, but a good showing against the Redbirds would help build a little optimism that will inevitably be crushed but hey it's a start.

Dodger Great Steve Garvey to Provide Fans With Grill Tips & Samples

The Los Angeles Dodgers and King’s Hawaiian will host their first “Grilling With The Garv” event prior to the Dodgers’ series opener with the World Champion Chicago Cubs on Friday, May 26.

The event will be held at the KING’S HAWAIIAN Grill in the left field plaza beginning at 6:15 p.m. It will feature Dodger great Steve Garvey helping to grill up samples of the game’s delicious BBQ specialty item, as well as provide Dodger fans with tips on how to take their summer grill-outs to the next level. Garvey will also be taking photos and signing autographs for fans at the event leading up to the 7:10 p.m. first pitch.

This is the third in a series of events with Garvey and KING’S HAWAIIAN. Garvey has also hosted a “Way We Were” series, where he talks with other baseball legends before a game outside the KING’S HAWAIIAN Grill. Garvey has already talked with Dodger greats Tommy Davis and Ron Cey at two games earlier this season, and will host the next “Way We Were” conversation on Saturday, June 10th against the Cincinnati Reds.

Kershaw isn't scheduled to go this series, so they'll need to find something extra from the supporting cast to get things back on track.

Andrew Toles Is Out for the Season

Fan favorite and scintillating interviewee Andrew Toles has a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Which totally sucks...even though it means Cody Bellinger is guaranteed a well-earned major-league spot for longer, it also puts pressure on Adrian Gonzalez to speed up his rehab. Remember, this front office is all about working the DL and having options, but Toles' injury just cranks the difficulty up to 11.

Q & A Series Continues for Fans Prior to Dodgers-Giants Series Opener

The Los Angeles Dodgers and King’s Hawaiian will continue its “Way We Were” series on Monday, May 1 as one half of the great Dodger infield—Steve Garvey and Ron Cey—will be the featured guests.

The event will take place prior to the opening game of the series with the San Francisco Giants, featuring KING’S HAWAIIAN spokesperson and Dodger legend Steve Garvey hosting a Q & A session with another Dodger great—former third baseman Ron Cey—between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the KINGS HAWAIIAN Grill located in the left field plaza. Garvey will continue to host special events at the KING’S HAWAIIAN Grill throughout the season. In addition to the “Way We Were” series, events such as “Grilling with the Garv” and the “Legends Baseball Clinic” will provide fans the opportunity to interact with one of the franchise’s most celebrated players. After Monday, the next event is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 26 at 5:30 p.m. prior to the Dodgers-Cubs game.
