Well, that's what you get when you have to put up a slapdash Game Thread from your phone: the Dodgers lose their first game to a National League opponent, a 4-3 come-from-ahead loss to the lowly Rockies. With multiple opportunities squandered throughout the game, not even a leadoff 2-0 lead (Kyle Farmer home run) could help a wobbly Emmet Sheehan and a loss-taking Will Klein from winning yesterday's game.
At least Shohei Ohtani extended his on-base streak to 50 games, which survived when he came to bat with two out in the ninth inning (he singled, but that was it for the Dodgers). The Rockies twice got in the way of Ohtani during this game, allowing him to reach twice on errors (which do not count toward on-base streaks), the latter of which was on a cheapie catcher's interference call in the seventh inning. But Ohtani eked it out anyway in the ninth, so the streak is still on.
Today will be another uphill climb for the Dodgers on the Rockies, with winless Roki Sasaki on the mound trying to find his groove. The LAT's Bill Plaschke advocates moving Sasaki to the bullpen, which can only mean that Sasaki is going to shove today, given Plaschke's penchant for bad predictions.
