Thu 4/18 5p: Julio Urias vs. Zach Davies Fri 4/19 5p: Ross Stripling vs. Jhoulys Chacin Sat 4/20 4p: Hyun-Jim Ryu vs. TBD Sun 4/21 11a: Clayton Kershaw vs. Brandon Woodruff
Since we licked our wounds by taking a lickin' to the Reds in a series sweep, we've recovered from the prior series loss against the Milwaukee Brewers. So now we face them again, with their slugger Christian Yelich on a tear, he with his nine HR on the year to lead the National League.
But wait, don't we have a slugger of our own, with nine HR to his name as well? Cody Bellinger returns (actually, he started Wednesday and went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk), after sitting for a game and a half with a bruised knee. Well, we're laughing like it didn't hurt / I'm in the dirt, I'll make it work though. We won Monday (the game where Belli got hit), and then substitute Alex Verdugo had his first three-hit game on Tuesday, and now Bellinger is back.
Yelich. Bellinger. Last year's NLCS opponents. Both teams leading their respective divisions. This looks to be a good one.
I'm going to go stock up on groceries for this weekend.

There is NO ONE in the stadium, one half-hour before gametime.
Game 1
Pederson LF
Seager SS
Turner 3B
Bellinger RF
Pollock CF
Muncy 1B
Hernandez 2B
Barnes C
Urias P
Pre-game show says this might be Urias' last start until Sept. Yikes.
Pederson caught looking, then Seager and Turner fly to deep right center. 1-2-3 inning for Milwaukee.
Bellinger reaches but is CS, but Pollock grounds out. Muncy bloops a double over Braun with two out in the top of the second.
Joe Davis pointing out that Bellinger would have scored on that double. Kike is up, two out, 2-1 count.
Two-out triple from Pollock, and Muncy walks, but Kike swings at the first damn pitch and flies to center.
0-0, mid-4
BELLINGER!!!
MUNCY!!! 3-0 Dodgers in the sixth!
Sweeeet. How did we score?!
Solo bomb for Bellinger, then a 2 run homer for Muncy.
Pretty nice line for Urias if it is his last start.
6 IP, H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K
Kelly bailed out of a base hit when Verdugo guns Perez out at home!
Stupid play to send him, with Yelich on deck
Yelich HR to start the bottom of the ninth.
Rick Monday can’t believe they sent the runner from second, only to be thrown out at home, to end the eighth. He’s right: it would have been a tie game.
SETTLE DOWN, KJ!
Took Kenley 12 pitches to get Brain, but he strikes him out for the first Out
Two-out basehit by Aguilar. Tying run at the plate.
Infield pop up. DODGERS WIN 3-1
Way to go, Urias!
Dodgers win fifth in a row.
Game 2
Tied 2-2 in the seventh. Bellinger up with the bases loaded.
Goes down swinging. Damn!
KIKE!!!
Oh god, here’s Kelly
Kelly has gotten the first two batters on Ks. Hmm
Welp. He got the first two out, but he’s still Joe Kelly.
Kelly gives up a solo HR and then gets another K.
On to the ninth.
Kenley with a 1-2-3 ninth. WIN!
Kiké was talking to Alanna after the game and said he hit the homerun with Bellinger’s bat. He also called Bellinger the MVP. Love it!
I’ll take it!
Game 3
Pederson LF
Turner 3B
Seager SS
Pollock CF
Bellinger RF
Freese 1B
Taylor 2B
Gale C
Ryu P
Turner, and Rocky Gale, are the only position Dodgers in the lineup without a HR.
Turner Ks in his first AB
Seager Ks
Bellinger flies to center with two on. 0-0 through 0.5.
34-pitch first inning though
Top 4, MIL 1, LAD 0
It was a Christian Yelich solo shot with two out in the bottom of the third, that put the Brewers on the board. Yelich now has 12 on the year.
Mid 4, MIL 1, LAD 0
Oh, this is not good. Braun 3-run HR. It’s 5-0 MIL
Final score, 5-0 MIL. Bummer.
Game 4! Joc leadoff HR!
Joc leads off the fourth with another HR! 5-0 Dodgers now.
Bellinger has two singles and two RBIs as well.
Turner just hit one to the left center wall and was robbed by Cain. Just missed his first HR.
Bellinger just robbed Yellich of a HR in the eighth! 5-2 Dodgers with Baez pitching.
Kenley in for the 4 out save. Two on for him.
Thames crushes a 3 run HR off Kenley to tie the game. 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth.
BELLINGER OFF OF HADER!! 6-5 DODGERS!!
Kenley strikes out the side in the ninth to win it!
I know I should be worried about Kenley giving up so many long balls, but I’m too excited about this series victory to be bothered with negative thoughts right now.
