FOUND: Pictures of Dodgers' Rookie Hazing! Part 2!

Ever look at a Dodger youngster and think, I wonder what he looks like in a garishly inappropriate costume? Well, wonder no more! Thanks to submitter Phil Witte and photographer Belen Mota, nothing is left to the imagination.

The Village People have nothing on these guys. L to R (click on picture for larger version): Eric Hull as a "devilette," Chin-Lung Hu as a sorceror, Chad Billingsley as Robin Hood (I think), Andy LaRoche as a clown, and Delwyn Young as Snow White.

Tony Abreu as Pocahontas. Is the Louis Vuitton bag part of the outfit?

Delwyn Young as Snow White. "I should have had my agent negotiate a no-hazing clause."

More pictures to come! Do you have more rookie hazing pictures? Send 'em in (e-mail in sidebar)!

Something's Abreu-ing

From "Dodgers prospect Abreu set to join team" by Ken Gurnick at Dodgers.com:

LOS ANGELES -- One day after juggling the batting order, the Dodgers are about to juggle their roster by promoting infielder Tony Abreu from Triple-A Las Vegas.

The 22-year-old Abreu, who has been rotated defensively at third base, shortstop and second base, was batting .347 for Las Vegas, and his 35 runs scored in 39 games was second in the Pacific Coast League. He hit his second home run on Monday night.

The switch-hitting Abreu batted .340 in Spring Training as a non-roster invitee and emerged as a potential candidate to eventually replace 39-year-old second baseman Jeff Kent. Originally signed as a shortstop, he had been exclusively a second baseman until this year.

There was no confirmation from the club on Abreu's promotion or which player would be moved off the roster to make room.

Glad to see more of the kids getting a chance. There's more where Abreu came from....

UPDATE:

From Diamond Leung:

According to the roster on dodgers.com, it appears infielder Tony Abreu has had his contract purchased to make his major league debut while struggling reliever Hong-Chih Kuo was optioned to Class AAA Las Vegas. A star this spring, Abreu can play the middle infield positions and some third base. He would take over the 40-man roster spot vacated by Wilson Valdez.

Dodgers Beat Tigers on Walk-off HR, 4-3

Looks like a nice performance all around for the Dodgers today, as they beat the defending American League champs. The Dodgers' 4-3 win over the Tigers featured doubles by Olmedo Saenz, Rafael Furcal, Russell Martin, Luis Gonzalez, and Wilson Betemit (although the Saenz one was apparently a cheapie off the glove of Brandon Inge). Gonzalez, Martin, and Betemit all went 2 for 3 today. In addition, potential power bat Bobby, er, Tony Abreu hit a walk-off homer in the the ninth off of Bobby Seay to win it for the blue.

Derek Lowe went five innings and gave up one run with 2Ks. Takashi Saito ended up blowing the save in the seventh with two runs, neither of which were earned due to errors from Wilson Valdez and Andy La Roche (his sixth this spring). Betemit and his .192 spring average won't hear footsteps from La Roche at that rate (La Roche is also batting .241 this spring), giving us a pretty deep abyss at third. Let's hope at least one of those guys turns it around, since we're going to need production from all spots.

Must be the off-day tomorrow which got the whole lineup excited.
