National Drama is the UK's leading subject association for Drama teachers and theatre educators. But it also seems like the Dodgers the last two nights, as they've required some ninth-inning heroics to get wins over the Nationals in the series' first two games.

Justin Wrobleski, an All-Star in the first half of the season, will be gunning for a berth in the postseason rotation. The Dodgers are back in front of Atlanta for the second playoff bye spot.

So, more drama to come tonight (in a rare Sunday night game!).

Game 124 Thread: Aug 15 vs. Brewers, 4.15p

Justin Wrobleski (11-4, 3.44) vs. Jacob Misiorowski (11-5, 1.76).

Holy smokes, Edwin Diaz got a save last night! Sure, it was shaky, opening up with a HBP and loading the bases before Joey Ortiz grounded out to Mookie Betts. But that makes Diaz' seventh save of the season (versus four blown saves). We'll take it.

But tonight's game is the game of the series, with the Miz on the mound for Milwaukee. Can the sleepwalking Dodgers lineup wake up for a change? That would stop presses, indeed.

Game 118 Thread: Aug 9 @ Diamondbacks, 1p

Justin Wrobleski vs Eduardo Rodriguez.

The long national nightmare might be over (the Dodgers finally won a game), but the offensive malaise continues, not to mention Edwin Diaz's incredible suckage.

Hoping for a series victory.

Game 102 Thread: July 21 @ Phillies, 4p

Justin Wrobleski (10-2, 2.69) vs. Zac Wheeler (10-1, 2.13).

The Dodgers raised the white flag early yesterday, as Emmet Sheehan was ineffective and the Dodgers subbed out a ton of starters early--not Kyle Tucker, who sat out the whole game--in a 10-7 loss.

Tonight's starting matchup doesn't make me feel any better.

At The All-Star Break, The Dodgers Are Suboptimal...And Still The Best

After getting swept by the Diamondbacks to end the first half of the season, the Dodgers certainly seemed a little lackluster and had cause to be alarmed: their offense was sleepy; Max Muncy, who has become sure-handed at third base, made 73 errors in the series; and many of our pitchers (starters and bullpen) just got beat.

But then, we still have an 11.5-game lead in the division. So there's that.

As Jared Diamond wrote in the WSJ's "A Lot Has Gone Wrong for the Dodgers. They’re Still the Best Team in Baseball Anyway.", it's not just our profligate spending which has allowed the Dodgers to thrive even with Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Edwin Diaz, and Will Smith injured. And it's not just because we have deep pockets--it's because we have unsung players, polished in our development pipeline, who have filled in the gaps:

The truth about the Dodgers isn’t just that they’re the wealthiest team in baseball. They’re also quite possibly the smartest.

Under president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, a former executive with the small-market Tampa Bay Rays, the Dodgers have built a player-development apparatus that is the envy of the entire industry. MLB.com ranks the Dodgers’ farm system as second-best in baseball behind the Milwaukee Brewers, even though they haven’t had a top-10 draft pick in 20 years.

In other words, the Dodgers seemingly have a limitless supply of MLB-ready replacements at every position. Coupled with their vast resources, it’s a lethal combination that has transformed them into an unstoppable juggernaut.

Take All-Star pitcher Justin Wrobleski. The Dodgers selected him in the 11th round in 2021, and he initially looked like little more than a mid-level prospect. He has turned into a savior in Snell’s absence, going 10-2 with a 2.69 ERA in 2026.

When All-Star catcher Will Smith went down with a neck injury, they turned to homegrown Dodger Dalton Rushing. He has an .812 OPS. Cuban outfielder Andy Pages signed with the Dodgers as a 17-year-old in 2018 and is now an All-Star for the first time this season.

Wrobleski, Rushing and Pages are all making around $800,000. Without them and others, the Dodgers would be more like the Mets.

“Guys have stepped up,” Roberts said. “We just find ways to win.”

So relax, Dodgers! You've earned a break this week.

That is, except Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Andy Pages, and Justin Wrobleski. All six of you have to go to Philadelphia, if only to participate in off-field festivities!

Game 93 Thread: July 7 vs. Rockies, 7p

Justin Wrobleski (10-2, 2.80) vs. Michael Lorenzen (3-9, 6.91).

While some Dodgers starters have been incredibly inconsistent (Roki Sasaki), or even completely absent (Blake Snell)--Justin Wrobleski has quietly gone out there and delivered. He leads the team in wins (one more than Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and two more than Shohei Ohtani). And though he won't be an 2026 All-Star, he clearly has contributed to the Dodgers' first-half success.

Let's give a toast to Justin as we near the break!

After last night's 9-4 beatdown, can the A's starting pitcher muster any sort of opposition today?

In yesterday's game, the Dodgers eked out a victory, however Dodger $60M man Kyle Tucker had to leave early due to back spasms. So did the Twins nip Tuck? Sure seems that way.

Game 74 Thread: June 16 vs. Rays, 7p

Shades of the 2025 World Series.

Justin Wrobleski (7-2, 2.95) vs. Drew Rasmussen (6-2, 2.71).

How is Miguel Rojas so dramatic and effective as a late-game pinch hitter? Last night, Rojas saved the Dodgers with a seventh-inning game winning home run, which hearkened back to the postseason exploits of last season. Sure, we shouldn't have to depend upon a three-run homerun from Kyle Tucker to even be in the game in the first place. Let's get this offense going tonight for Wrobo, okay?

Game 69 Thread: June 11 @ Pirates, 3.40p

Justin Wrobleski (7-2, 2.62) vs. Mitch Keller (5-3, 4.51).

Confession: I will be at the game tonight, the first Dodgers away game that I've attended in years. I'm really hoping for a great performance from Justin Wrobleski, so that the Dodgers can win this series. Which means, given the Pirates' starter, I should not be seeing Mitch All Together.

UPDATE 12.30p PT: It's thunderstorming outside here in Pittsburgh. Yikes.

A win today would give us our sixth-straight series victory, so let's see if we can halve Nelson.

Post-Game 57 Thread: Dodgers Home Run Derby

DODGERS 4, PHILLIES 2

It wasn't so much what the Dodgers did--stop the red-hot Phillies and give opposing starter Zack Wheeler his first loss of the year--but how they did it: four solo home runs from Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Shohei Ohtani, and Will Smith.

Oh, and Justin Wrobleski, who had struggled in his last start against Milwaukee, came back with a vengeance (7.0 IP, 1 ER, 9 Ks and 0 BB). Bryce Harper struck out three times and Kyle Schwarber struck out twice, contributing to 11 Ks overall for the Dodger pitchers (Wrobleski; the moderately effective Edgardo Henriquez; a clutch K for Alex Vesia (on his bobblehead night!); and a perfect ninth from Tanner Scott).

I couldn't watch this one as I don't have Apple TV, but that gave me the chance to hear Charley Steiner botch Freeman's HR call as well as call the Dodger right fielder "Kyle Turner." Hoo, boy.

Game 57 Thread: May 29 vs. Phillies, 7p

This manager looks vaguely familiar.

Justin Wrobleski (6-2, 3.07) vs. Zack Wheeler (4-0. 1.67).

Since taking over the manager's role in Philadelphia, former Dodger manager Don Mattingly has led the Phillies to a 20-8 record, basically the reciprocal of the 9-19 record he inherited. So while the Phillies currently appear to be a .500 team (at 29-27), looks are deceiving...which makes for a perfect test for the Dodgers this weekend.

Let's get this party started tonight.

Game 51 Thread: May 22 @ Brewers, 4p

Wrobleski vs. Henderson.

After an inspiring series victory against the Padres, the Dodgers sit 1.5 games up in the NL West. Milwaukee has thst exact same division lead over the Cubs in the NL Central. So this is not the time to sleep on Old Milwaukee.

The Brewers are always the little engine that could, confounding baseball pundits by achieving beyond their small-market roots. Wouls love to see the Dodgers not get rope-a-doped this weekend and come out ahead.

Game 46 Thread: May 16 @ Angels, 6.30p

Justin Wrobleski (5-1, 2.42) vs. José Soriano (6-2, 1.66).

We've got a matchup of two breakout stars this year, but only Soriano has gotten the full press coverage, which probably also reflects the heavy star power of the Dodgers vs. the Anaheim team only known for Mike Trout.

But Justin Wrobleski has held his own in the 2026 Dodgers starting lineup, which is a lot more than I can say for the injury-prone Tyler Glasnow or the indifferent, ineffective, and injured Blake Snell. Let's go, Wrobocop!

Post-Game 34 Thread: The Dodgers Actually Won A Game

DODGERS 4, CARDINALS 1

The Dodgers dropped yet another series, but avoided losing their fifth in a row (and getting swept in St. Louis) by gutting out another fine performance from Justin Wrobleski (6.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 K, 1 BB), who is now 5-0 with a 1.25 ERA. Wrobleski doesn't get a lot of Ks, but he seems to get out of trouble well enough thanks to ground-ball pitching with men on.

Speaking of ground balls, the Dodgers hit into four double plays this game, and went 4-for-10 with RISP. We had just enough to notch four runs, but still missed a lot of opportunies for more.

Off to Houston for more cheating.

Game 34 Thread: May 3 @ Cardinals, 11.15a

Justin Wrobleski (4-0, 1.50) vs. Dustin May (3-2, 5.28).

Four straight losses for the Dodgers, and today we face a former Dodger who was traded in the middle of 2025 (and has since gone 4-6 for two teams, with an ERA over 5). I would not be surprised if Dustin May comes to play today for St. Louis.

Game 28 Thread: April 26 vs. Cubs, 1p

Justin Wrobleski (3-0, 1.88) vs. Shota Imanaga (2-1, 2.17).

Rubber match in the series today, and the Dodgers send Wrobocop to the mound in a critical game. Let's do this.

Ugh, we lost the second and third games of this series. Let's try and salvage against the Rocks today, please?
